  1. Good looking stuff! But, I do understand if YOU wont ever use these shafts again, I mean m-37? I guess you just bought the clubs to get the heads hu? Ha ha. But for sure if somebody is a medium or slower swinger these would be a super bargain.
  2. Just the other day I went out to get some new balls, and i ended up buying the yellow Kasco Kira ball, just as an experiment. These are different from the ones I saw on TSG, the package is a satin kind of grey, and these balls are a 4-piece design. It still says "Distant & Spin" on the cover though....I guess they mean "Distance". Anyway I thought, what the hell, lets give it a try. And yes, I did get some stick from my golf buddies that thought bright coloured balls were for Ladies Only..The price here in Thailand is on a par with the Penta, HX/tour or Srixon ZR-X and slightly less than Pro V 1s. The bright yellow colour really helped, and although it was a bit unusual looking at first I quickly got used to it, and I actually really enjoyed being the only one who could indentify my ball from far away in my group. This ball has good feel! Medium soft off the driver, and really supple on short iron shots, chips and putts, great. I also had several really nice Hop N stop moments with just the right amount of backspin..Sometimes I spin balls of the green, and when I try to avoid that they just shoot through the green instead..But this ball gave me just perfect amounts of spin with my wedges. I cant say I hit it longer than normal, but i got good distance for sure, maybe, just maybe i hit it a touch higher than normal.. All in all, a good ball!
  3. In my head I was thinking Katana until the last post, cant understand what triggered the Kasco comments...I can see I suddenly wrote Kasco the end of an answer to Spoon, scary stuff..Was it Spoons mentioning if the i33 irons that made my brain turn to jelly? Better order a brain scan at the next health checkup?!
  4. Oops! Sorry, the mind wanders a bit! I was reading the JDM ball thread and got mixed up in my head!
  5. True, I actually like the head shape quite a lot, would not mind to try it with a "serious" shaft at 45.5, could be a straight hitting mega bomber. Now when you hold it it feels a bit like an oversized 3 wood or something in between the "usual" clubs in the bag. I never hit it, just waggled it a bit. Of course, if I got one I would probably be 240-250 straight down the fairway on every hole. It would probably help my score a lot, Ha ha ha! But Im too fond of hitting the sometimes "destructive" big dog so Im keeping myself narrowminded and hopeful..Call it pride, stupidity, overconfidence etc etc
  6. Your right about the popularity, here in Thailand they are still big though. But not as popular as a few years ago. The hybrids were kinda before their time in a sense, a good friend of mine still carries the "44" and "33" (?) long iron replacements and hits them very well, he´s had them for years and swears by them. They were very forward thinking and not afraid to come out with expensive and sometimes futuristic stuff. I sense Kasco is a bit more "conservative" these days. I remember thay had (still have) a rather weird looking set of irons that had a kind of teardrop shape and no hosel, it was like a whole set of hybrids but still not hybrids as we know them. Never hit them though..
  7. "Fit for the emperor himself" ha ha ha, great description! The latest drivers and woods are even more "classy" looking, fit for even the Jade Emperor maybe. The latest Sniper line is gold with a gold/brown misty kind of paint on the crown. I usually dont like it OTT like this, but they look good when looking down on them, and the driver felt good of the face. Thats why I started looking into the Kasco stuff.
  8. I saw the EGG driver in Bangkok last week, it seems more oriented towards super forgiveness and hitting it straight rather than hitting it long with that unusually short shaft and big head..It looks and feels a bit weird when you waggle it, the length tells you "3wood" but looking down you see the huge mega forgiveness head. Very soft shaft in original spec too. Didnt see the new Egg woods though, only the old version and the new driver. I would think that the 3 wood will be longer hitting than the driver, the driver is probably not very long at all, but probably super game improvement straight.
  9. Kasco made a great ball a few years ago, where they had the same basic ball adjusted to 4 different swing speeds. I really lieked that ball, cant remember the name now though (getting old?) Bute they were for slow, medium, fast and Tour swingspeeds. I had great results with the "fast" and the "tour" versions, excellent overall performance, and very long with decent spin but not ProV1 levels of spin. Kasco had another premium ball that was on the market for a very long time, the Silicone Power line but I never liked that ball even though I played with it for a while. Felt like I lost distance, and that it spun way too much off the driver and made me inconsistent...Even though it might have been all in my head! Otherwise, speaking of the Brill and other "premium" Super Newing-kind of JDM golf balls I feel they are mostly glorified and expensive "distance" balls, behaving much like a low compression 2 piece ball. They go high, too high for me, feel "light of the face" and dont spin much around the green, medium spin at most. I guess they are developed for slow to medium swing speeds and for people who need to get the ballflight up and who want the premium look, they are beautiful for sure. I palyed the Brill (the first gen, not current) for a few rounds in thailand and with the soft fairways there it gave me zero roll with a super high flight. I currently play the Penta but I just got hold of a few brand new boxes of the TPred which is my all time favourite ball, but is not being produced anymore. I also quite like the B330.
  10. Thanks. Those shaft fitting threads seem like a very good idea, an excellent service from TSG. I will try it out for sure.
  11. I tried a friend of mines Katana Sword driver a while ago, it was with a stiff shaft that was way to flexy for me but i really liked the feel and look of the head. Im not looking for a driver at the moment, but i am looking for a new 3-wood, something that would be better than my old (very old) trusty Callaway Hawk Eye Titanium Pro model. I saw the Katana woods, several different models too, while taking a stroll around one of the bigger Shopping malls in Bangkok the other day. Some in the slightly shouty but still classy enough gold/brown colour but also a few much nicer looking in dark green metallic, very nice.. The shaft looked pretty high end (tour AD) but they were all very soft in flex. The price was alright, but apparently they cant be ordered in anything stiffer than their super soft S-flex. So, it seems if I want a Katana 3-wood or driver I have to buy the club and immediately reshaft it which seems rather wasteful..Too bad. Does anybody use the Katana stuff? Impressions?
  12. VEGA is owned by Kyoei. VEGA is Kyoeis own brand! Its a very well known fact. Otherwise, why would Kyoei have the Vega homepage as a link for people in Europe that wants Kyoei products? Its very difficult to find the full range of VEGA woods, irons, wedges, bags etc etc in Asia, that is because VEGA is the brand Kyoei uses to promote their products in Europe and in the US. If there is some "secret" inside info Tourspecgolfer sits on, I would very much like to know the answer to my previous posts. Im not gonna buy "He knows what he is talking about" when information from Kyoeis own website says otherwise. Yeah, they are "seperate companies", I guess you mean like GM and Cadillac are seperate companies as well? TSG sells a few wedges from VEGA, Backspinn76 also asks wether there is any difference in quality and performance, and Tourspecgolfer insinuates (by not answering) that VEGA is some sort of component modifier, using open models from Kyoei. Not true. Kyoei just celebrated 50 years, and lo and behold Vega releases their 50th anniversay irons at the same time. What a funny coincidence, VEGA and Kyoei celebrating 50 years at the same time, these two "seperate" companies? I would think that there are many compamies using the open models from kyoei that should be mentioned on KYOEIS OWN WEBSITE just like VEGA is under the Europe info section on th website? Why should Kyoei single out one "simple" open model company like VEGA otherwise?
  13. Want to buy Quadra Fire Express 65 or 65 in SX/X. Also interested in Crazy 50 and 80LS in SX/X. I live in both Thailand and Sweden.
  14. This is directly from kyoeigolf.co.jp, under Home>Company information>Dear Overseas Golf Players!...Now why would they put up this on theis website when informing potential customers in Europe? Look at the web page at the bottom and the Adress "Vega house"...Two different companies hu? Dont think so..VEGA is Kyoeis premium brand in Europe and in the US. Every bit as good as anything else Kyoei makes. Europe: Professional Golf Europe Ltd Vega House 19 Willow Rise, Sutton St Nicholas, Hereford, Herefordshire HR1 3DH United Kingdom Tel:+44-1432 880510 E-mail:[email protected] URL:http://www.professionalgolfeurope.co.uk/ http://www.vega-golf.com/
  15. Hmm, I thought VEGA was Kyoeis "housebrand" much like Epon is to Endo? Vega is mainly marketed in Europe and in the US. The quality should be as good as the best stuff kyoei makes. And the 50th anniversary does NOT look lik an "open model" at all. I have a RAD-01 driver with tech VEGA bought from Makser, so that does is not some "open model" either for that matter. Now, I know TSG is not selling VEGA, but it does seem like Tourspecgolfer tried to give you the impression that VEGA is of somewhat inferior quality...? Which it surely is not.
