  1. I worked in the space industry designing communication satellite equipment for 10 years in Japan and know exactly the level of rigorous tolerances they incorporate in their manufacturing and testing process. These equipment need to perform to specs for at least 10 years in space with zero maintenance in a highly variable and harsh environment. On the flip side, all the manufacturing steps are manual work. No automation whatsoever. That gets to be very expensive very quickly especially for stuff hand made in Japan!! The vacuum chamber they use to cure the shaft alone is convincing enough for me to know they use absolute state of the art process that would be too costly for other shaft manufacturers to follow or to invest in. What they are utilizing here is a no gimmick actual space industry technology.
  2. lighter grip! Golf Pride use to make a Dual Durometer Lite which was a 25g grip but they discontinued it. Have not used light grips since then.
  3. Thanks for this info, Chis! > 7D doesn't recommend a head at all Well I'd better get moving in deciding my head !! :) > They don't suggest pulling a shaft from one head and putting into another, they say performance will not be as good. Aha! As I suspected. This is good to know and will be convincing reason for me to stop tinkering with different shafts at least for the head I decide to use.
  4. Not really a problem just more work :) I unfortunately don't have a taper tip shaver ... not sure where to get one either.
  5. ZY11 is definitely a unique head that is straight and long, and I was not patient enough to try more shafts to make it work ror me. but I really don't think this head is for just anyone. I am hoping that thru their fitting process, 7D could also recommend the best type of head that matches your swing? I was assuming that they design your shaft so it would optimze results to match the head you specify... but what if you want to use that same shaft in a different head with totally different mechanical properties in the future? for example, if you had them design a shaft for your swing to be used with a 192g very shallow 460cc head like the Egg One , and along the way you decided you want to use that shaft in an Epon Zero weighing 202g with a deep face at 415cc.... Could that same shaft design still be valid at the same level of optimization from a ball flight perspective? the added 10g alone would at least change the cpm of the club and therefore would impact shaft load characeteristics wouldn't it? Thinking out loud at this point but I am really excited about getting fit and discovering more about my swing!
  6. Not really a good use case but I put OTI shafts in two of my hybrids that I rotate and I really love the way it performs. Stable as a Diamana Thump but slightly higher trajectory and feel is actually much better. I have 95 Stiff but probably better off using 85 S in the hybrids and 95 S in irons. Looking to get a set of OTIs installed in irons. I really wish they came pre-tipped for each club and in taper tip size.
  7. That looks like the AFD head no? ( AKA Crazy 460 )
  8. ZY-11 Sold Lowered price on P-Tune and AAA shaft!
  9. you can use the PM (personal messaging) feature to contact me. I will shoot you a PM :)
  10. Thanks, Chris. You rock! If the NUD Ghibli feels similar to the VT511, it could be really good. Looking forward to your reviews on the Docus. Just searching for a 7D worthy head that performs and also sounds and feels great.
  11. Thanks Chris. Have you had the chance to try it? As far as NUD goes, I asked about the Ghibli about a month ago and you mentioned some paint quality concerns? is that resolved? All the DAT faced drivers in the past I just could not get along with mostly due to sound at impact. I would love a DAT faced driver with Epon 103 sound and feel. Another driver I really like from sound and feel is the Yamaha V203 Are there any heads out here that might fit that profile?
  12. http://www.docus-golf.com/ Anyone have any info or feedback on their Driver, Fairway and Ute? The Driver, DCD701 is currently ranked #1 on Rating Gate for swing speeds above 96mph. The face uses 15-3-3-3 Ti which is known to produce very soft feel at impact. I know this first hand from using Geek Golf's Failsafe 3 driver for a long time and uses the same material. Their entire wood line really looks good too. Not sure if I like their Irons or wedges. I am seriously considering going with this driver for my planned 7D pairing.
  13. Yeah, it's almost like the driver head is attached to a string. Except this "string" has tremendous kick back effect at impact with the right timing. And as you mention, the stiffer flexes do come in two weights.
  14. I have the Athlete 550 model which is around 70g @ 46" raw. http://www.lapaco.co.jp/link_page/1.html I might actually pay them a visit while in Japan.
  15. This is my experience with the Skitter shaft. I had this 365cc Tourstage P02-6 limited edition head that was sitting around and this Skitter shaft that I bought on eBay several month ago. Tourstage X Drive P02-6 is a driver that was limited edition back a few years ago as part of the 705 series. Only 1000 units made 365cc pair shaped Endo greatness!! This Skitter shaft is a XX stiff shaft ... but honestly it feels like a ladies flex on the bottom half of the shaft. Not exaggerating. It truely feels like a shaft from the Orange Whip swing trainer. So pairing this up, I was going to make it my training driver so to practice good tempo and good smooth swing. When you try to yank this club in anyway, you will get a rather severe hook. So I took this driver today along with my Yupitel swing speed meter. Took a couple of shots with the Epon / Stinger good hard swing around 106 to 108 mph SS not bad .... Next P02-6 / Skitter XX first swing very easy around 50% ... 108 mph "What?!!" Nice straight shot too! Next swing give it a bit more ... maybe 75% .. 114 mph!! Baby draw high launch!! I want more!! OK 100% !! Big F***ing hook shot!! but SS was "118 mph " ... Holy Smokes! I did not expect this. I have never seen swing speed this high from myself. A bit gimmicky? I thought so too. But seeing is believing! Apparently there are 60 Pros on the Japan Senior tour using this shaft. Not surprised now. I am gonna have to find a few more of these shafts and try them on different heads.
  16. Pending payment on the Modart MA01D head. Thanks!
  17. just guessing but probably 270 to 275 ?
  18. AF153 / Stinger combo for me seems to provide the most consistency on the course. Also making room for whatever driver I get thru 7D. :) Thanks M! I would love to try the 50S or 60S as well. That would have been a wiser choice! :)
  19. Thanks for the offer HB. Not looking for trades at this time.
  20. Prices lowered on Modart heads. Added P-Tune head and AAA 2015 shaft! Come and get them !!
  21. zy11 is pending payment.
  22. Yes. This head is too low spin together with AAA for me. Someone with naturally high spin should use it. Yup I think I need a higher loft too. Perhaps.
  23. Sorry my friend. Unfortunately, have not tried the 535. Have not had luck in the past with any JBeam heads. not sure why. Not a hi spin hitter to start with so perhaps just not a good match. As for Crazy and TRPX .... could not find peace with them either. I feel much at home when using Endo heads with higher kick point shafts. Going back to familiar territory for now.
