  5. Interesting.... I had a similar experience with my Type V with the WBQ. I was hitting the ball all over the place the first week. By week 2 a little better but I was already looking into trying different shafts. Yesterday, I hit it again at the range before changing out the shaft and I was hitting some straight bombs with it. Still not "automatic straight balls" as I would like them to be.... but very good ball flight overall. Got a used Basileus Z that arrived from Japan today and the shaft is epoxied in. Will be hitting it tomorrow to see if I can get more control.
  6. Not sure if this qualifies as JDM, but I have a 24 deg Mizuno MP Fli Hi which I really like the feel in comparison to Yonex Zero and Epon AF901 that I used to have. Mizuno has a more solid feel and not as hollow feeling. Stock Project X shaft keeps the ball lower as well. As a 3 iron replacement, I have a 21 deg Adams Idea Pro VST with a Diamana Thump shaft which really keeps the trajectory low. Highly recommended.
  7. Very nice!!! Is there a base price for heads only? And same custom options for their wedges?
  8. Quadra WBQ MAX in 75g is an excellent mid kick shaft. Very controllable with great feel. I game it in my P-Tune driver. I read somewhere they might be terminating this weight class.... ? Waccine Compo also came out with a 75g class driver shaft this year. I have the older 80g version which comes out to be around 75g when cut. Also mid kick but very low spin. I have it in a 09 Yamaha 4.6V rpm 9* head and it is almost too low spin. Crazy cb50 sigma is a bit more heavier but will be between 75 to 80g after cut depending on flex. This is a low kick shaft. it was too high of a launch for me but provided great control. Other heavier shafts I love and still use are, ZCom Pro95 and Rombax 80B Prototype. Both heavier but exceptionally smooth feeling! Both can be used for drivers but have higher kick point.
  9. Current Maxima set up with the WBQ 65 X looks to be too long for me at 46" and it flattens my swing plane by approx. 2 deg. according to trackman I was getting weird pulls on many of my shots. I choked it down about an inch and I was able to hit it much more solidly and consistently, but it was still launching too high. What I am thinking of doing is to pull the Stinger out of the Baldo head and try it in the Maxima to see how it does. Should help bring down the trajectory. As for the PG313, I think it is perfect as it is now, no tinkering needed there. This will be my ace driver for now. The surprise of the bunch was the Srixon ZR30 ( No wonder Hideki Matsuyama still uses it!! ) the ball speed off the face on this driver was consistently 3 to 5 mph above the rest at around 155 mph with range balls. It is a conforming head. My plan is to swap the shaft a slightly heavier and perhaps more mid kick shaft compared to the Kusala Black 61. As for all the other driver and shafts, they are going to the BST. :)
  10. Okay! . I took all 8 of my drivers to the session 1. Ryoma D1 Maxima Type V 8.5* / Quadra WBQ Max 65 X 2. P-Tune PG-313 9* / Quadra WBQ Max 75 SX 3. Baldo VT511 9* / Diamana Stinger 70 S 4. Yamaha 4.6V RPM 9* / Waccine Compo GR88 DR-TS 5. Yamaha 4.6V RPM 9* / Quadra Fire Express 65 SX 6. Kamui 456 10* / Tour AD EV-6S 7. Srixon ZR30 8.5* / Miyazaki Kusala Black 61 X 8. Titleist 913 D2 8.5* / Diamana S+ 62 R I'll share details later once I get the data file from the fitter, but in terms of what came out as top 3 for me were...... drum roll please.... :) No. 3: Ryoma D1 Maxima + WBQ Max 65 X Runner -Up: Srixon ZR30 + Miyazaki Kusala Black 61 X No.1: P-Tune PG313 + WBQ Max 75 SX Honorable mention goes to Kamui 456 + Tour Ad EV6 S After the session, I immediately started to think about tinkering with the No 2 and 3 drivers so that it matches the general profile ( weight, length, swing weight ) of the P-Tune. I'll try and get the details later.
  11. I have a Trackman session tomorrow comparing my current 5 drivers. Trying to decide on an ace driver and hopefully reduce the collection a bit. :) 1. Ryoma D1 Maxima Type V 8.5* / Quadra WBQ Max 65 X 2. P-Tune PG-313 9* / Quadra WBQ Max 75 SX 3. Baldo VT511 9* / Diamana Stinger 70 S 4. Yamaha 4.6V RPM 9* / Waccine Compo GR88 DR-TS 5. Yamaha 4.6V RPM 9* / Quadra Fire Express 65 SX Will be interesting to see how D1 Maxima will compare to the rest. Stay tuned!!
  12. I don't know all the different nippon prototype models out there, but based on your bend profile description, I think the modus 3 130 Tours might fit your needs. I game it now in MP64s and they are high launching and have very tight dispersion. For me, it has given me the most consistent and accurate results in comparison to other nippon shafts I owned in the past ( 950, 1050, 1150, Modus3 120, Proto ORA ) . Highly recommended!
  13. Thanks for the info on bare head weight. Very helpful.
  14. I have a wbq 75 sx in my p-tune. Absolutely love it. I think it has the best combination of performance and feel out of the fire express series.
  15. I hit my ball very high naturally and just envy those people who can hit their drivers low!! :) I currently have a Miyazaki Kusala Black 61X in a 913D2 8.5 deg head and really like how low it launches. Miyazaki's newer offering in Japan is the Kena series, they have a Kena Black which is their low spin low launch offering. I also liked the Quadra Fire Express Prototype which was pretty low launch and low spin as well. As for the Ryoma Maxima, I was initially thinking about getting the new Crazy Black Tour series as they advertise them as lower launch, but I never seemed to get along with Crazy shafts in the past ( not sure why ) so I am getting mine built with Quadra's newer offering WBQ Max 65g in X flex... Thought about the Prototype, but after hearing jimmieboi's results with the Crazy Boron shaft, I was afraid that the Prototype combined with a type V 8.5deg head could result in too low spin + too low launch = Worm burner drop balls. We'll have to see how the type V 8.5* + WBQ Max works out.
  16. Based on their product description, it says Type G is precision machined on the back of the face to remove an extra 2g. I would assume thinner face means higher COR? But it looks like it is still within conforming ranges.
  17. Are you able to tell us what weight screw is standard with certain head weights? Would be useful information when specifying the weight kit with our orders. Otherwise, like you say, the weight kit would not be very useful.
