  1. Yup, if you want something long and easy there is nothing even close.... It's like they took the EGG FW line and just made it smaller. If your a better player who wants something automatic but still needs to stay close with your yardage gaps pair these with a tight, stiff, low shaft and you'll be straight at the flag all day.... Make any sort of decent to good contact and the ball rockets off the face dead straight. J.
  2. If you like the look of them I promise you will not be unhappy with them.... Yamaha irons are beyond top notch, they feel fantastic and they flat out perform, if I had to suggest a first set of JDM irons to someone it would be between Epons and Yamahas, anything in either of those two product lineups will blow anyone away..... There are irons that are as good in some ways, even better in some areas, but overall, taking everything about them into account, AF Tours and Yam Tour Models take top spots... J.
  3. Bring ice to the range with the Hogan's.... I'll let Stew explain why... J.
  4. I think I have finally found the limit of what I would grab..,. I've always played a basic TT step less putter shaft and have never really had anything bad to say about it, I've tried the UST Frequency Filtered and it wasn't bad but didn't improve my putting at all, I have always liked a very soft putter, so there really wasn't much for the UST shaft to do for me.... I think I'm going to try the NS Pro putter shaft so well see how that goes, I just couldn't really justify going for graphite in a putter though... J.
  5. Hard stepping def won't change the feel of the shaft, it will just play stiffer.... Lol, when I said pick it up from T I actually mean order it from TSG, or you can search "choji oil" on goggle and order it from just about anywhere that deals with Japanese swords. The way a club interacts with the turf will def depend on your swing, but I haven't noticed the flat backs dig any more than hay other irons I own, actually I find that the thin soles on em cut through the turf very well... J.
  6. Forgot to toss this in there... If you like the weight of the Modus in Stiff but they're playing a bit loose, try hard stepping them, I know that Carlo has had fantastic results with the Modus after hard stepping. For me I needed a considerably stiffer flex and a bunch more weight to tighten these up, after some trial and error I eventually settled on them in Tour X soft stepped once, the Modus plays a bit soft, so the X or Tour X flex even won't play quite as stiff as an X100.... The Modus are a very solid shaft and the NS Pro feel is very difficult to beat, but it's very important to get flex and weight right with them or shot dispersion can get a bit crazy. J.
  7. You can buy any Japanese clove oil, that's what sword oil is, not sure if the Gold's Sword oil was in the pro shop last time I looked, if it is grab it from T.... It really does smell great, it's basically mineral oil with a tiny bit of clove in it for the scent, it won't take the bite off your raw heads at all, I believe Yururi ships there clubs oiled or at least the last few wedges I have received from them have come oiled, it bonds to the metal to keep from oxidation(rusting), and it's DEF a good idea if you want your raw heads to look pretty and new for a while... Although if your just looking for max bite, allowing for a bit of rust on the face will give you that.... Yup, ive got the flatbacks, I have them in satin though, they're DEF one of my favorite blades, AWESOME to shoot at pins with, in my opinion the best scoring irons in golf, and this set is my go to links iron set without a doubt, very razor blade like clubs and they're pretty strong lofted for blades which brings the flight down a touch more, these really eat links courses alive when you really need precision iron play.... A pretty demanding club, you won't find much else out there that gives you more of a challenge, but they are very, very sweet when struck pure, very workable, no problem moving these any way you like.... You got yourself a fantastic set of blades there that excels in the hands of a skilled golfer mate.... Also your shaft selection for these is pretty much top notch for this set that's available retail, ive tried alot of shafts in these and have continuously came back to the Modus, i originally tried the Modus in them in Stiff which were a bit soft and thin for me, but once I found the correct flex in the Modus they went better than anything else I tried in them.... SP Blues in them were a bit low and the ball didn't wanna move at all, Monacos were good but again I really wanna move the ball with these heads and the Monacos are pretty much dead straight, Crazy Steel 120 is a very solid option and so far would def be my second choice to the Modus but the Modus get the nod over them in these heads for ease of use... Only other shaft I'm waiting to try in these heads is the NS Prototype C10, I have high hopes for these, but if I still prefer the Modus in these heads then I'm gonna keep the Flatback/Modus3 setup and give myself a pat on the back for getting it right the first time, lol... J.
  8. Ahhhh good old WRX ..... I read threads over there whenever I wanna find myself in that euphoric state between full blown rolling on the floor laughter and speechless double taking "did I read that right? Umm ok I guess I did" confusion.... Yamaha is one of the few manufacturers I've seen that's pretty well respected even outside of the JDM crowd, the guys over at my fitter aren't really well versed in JDM gear, some have seen it and are aware of some of it, but when I had my 2011 Tours shafted the tech over there made a remark about how high quality Yamaha gear is and what a pleasure it was to work on the Tour Model, really surprised me as he's never said a word regarding previous knowledge of any of the other top end JDM gear I had brought in previously... J.
  9. Shimadas play rather stiff to flex, a Stiff fits most guys who play X flex in other shafts, soft step them and in reasonably sure you'll have better results at your SS. J.
  10. The Epon lies play a touch upright I have found, I flatten just about every club 1* and the AF Tours and 302's play very slightly more upright than all my other sets, it may not be that way for everyone, but I think that's what Stew is getting at. J.
  11. I would be seriously interested to see how they could possibly improve on the current AF Tour or 302's, both sets are absolutely tops... I think I'm gonna try out bagging a combo set of them today, see how it goes... J.
  12. Gimme a buzz in a bit and I'll give ya the scoop on the Ctapers mate. J.
  13. I have yet to hit a Yamaha club that I haven't loved.... Every single Yam club I have hit is at least as good as anything else on the market if not better. J.
  14. Put me down for a set of the new model.... Sky Dream wedges are fantastic gents, def towards the top of what's currently available. I have ALOT of wedges and the DTour Type Bites and the current Yamahas make it into my bag more often than anything else.... If they're coming out with a new wedge I don't even need to see it to know it's going to be awesome. Now Sky Dream and Yam need to come out with a set of blades and I would be a very happy man. J.
  15. Monaco's.

I can source brand new uncut sets 3-PW AUD$375 per set plus postage.
