  1. Will be looking forward to your comparisons even though the way I feel (now...) is the t.388 is a driver for life for me.
  2. I actually just played them yesterday for the first time. (Back when Tario wrote his original t.388 article, when I was blown way by the driver, I asked about the hat and bag in some of the accompanying photos, and he was kind enough to get S-Yard to send me a hat, and also included in my package were the Type-F balls.) Anyway, this ball has wonderfully soft feel for me, and just like the driver, I was surprised at its added length. I've been using Nike Tour-D's and 20XI-x balls, and these things blew them away. The second hole at my club is a 175yd Par-3, and using my usual club selection, I hit 10 yards over the green... On a par-5, I had a career best drive (in the fairway). They're very soft for putting as well. Oh, and btw, I ordered one of the Tour bags in the pics -- the black on white -- and just received my shipping notice today. As I told Tario, he's seemingly turning this Miura guy into a Kobayashi freak... ;=] What can I say -- other than KK knows design, and it seems to hit the sweet spot for me.
  3. It's weird, but I actually get more done... Quick breaks clear the head and keep my back from getting chair bound, which it's always wanting to do...
  4. Well, we just adopted a kitten on Friday. Do send your references... ;=]
  5. I was out in my backyard on Saturday in my new Paradiso hat doing what I usually do on Saturdays, chipping and putting to the small green back by my office, when the doorbell rang, and surprise, LA Customs had cleared the rest of my S-Yard order and there was my Bold 50 and second T.388, this time in S/R (first one was S). So I unwrapped the Bold and laid it down in front of the small trap by the green to show it what I expect of all new wedges -- a short pop over sand to a small artificial surface green. It's always an immediate pass or fail based on three hits. It's nasty little shot, as the green is stupid fast and yet you have to elevate the ball over the bunker. So........ first shot lips out, too much speed. Second shot misses left. Third shot pops, checks, slows, and just rolls into the cup. Nothing but my Miura's have ever done this before....... Big grin and I slide it into the bag. Then I wake up Sunday and head up to the range with the little Puma practice bag that Tario showed me a while back, just two clubs inside -- the Bold and the S/R t.388. A small bucket of balls later, I had kind of an epiphany about what I think Kobayashi-san is doing (at least for me). Because the wedge has the same kind of stealthy profile that the T.388 has to my eye, looking almost like a shadow when held over grass, I realize I'm not even seeing either club when I swing them. It's almost as if my quest to find clubs that let me swing my swing the way I do in my mind has been realized in the physical world. The Bold is long, too, for a 50* wedge, easily hits the 135 green, which for me, is long. And the S/R T.388 does feel nice with my swing and seems to jump a little more (if that's possible...) and definitely flies higher -- way up on the 230 screen at the far end. So basically it's another S-Yard weekend for me. Super thanks to Tario yet again! Can't wait to get both of these clubs to the course this week. Will report back then.--Richard
  6. Tario, I just received my Paradiso hat. Any way I could get a Tracking No for the Bold and the second T.388? Thanks so much. --Richard
  7. Although I'm one of the ones who liked it from the first hit -- I got the stock S shaft too -- I still decided I wanted to know what it feels like in the S/R, especially because i realized i also wanted a backup in case this baby goes out of production. That's the one I ordered and have been waiting to receive. Will let you know how it goes for me too when i get it.
  8. That's the rub o' the green, I guess -- which can, and in this case does hurt. <g>
  9. This happened to me once, too. If the Japanese tracking number was entered into the system and you see that it left Japan, then it's definitely shipped. In my case, what happened was Customs finally released the package, it was on the road to my local post office, and rather than tell me that, the Customs guy just said they didn't have it there. I called back after it was delivered to me to see if they could tell me then where it was, they said no, but then after I told them I'd received it, he checked a different record, believe it or not, which listed packages that had already left Customs... I told you, it's Kafka down there... but keep the faith (as long as it left Japan).
  10. ;=] And I still remember when I used to live in The Golden State... At least it still is when I'm on the golf course... (using JDM clubs...)
  11. Thanks, T, but no, I haven't received any tracking numbers. Hope you're right and it's at least sitting here in LA... Maybe it's with my Paradiso hat, which I did get a tracker on and know is sitting there in Customs... (Just thought of a funny image -- Custom guy sitting on a mountain of unprocessed packages wearing my Paradiso hat... ;=] )
  12. Thanks, RI, will keep that in mind. <g> Meanwhile I already have some in-place orders I'm waiting on, too -- not only for my Bold, but my backup T.388... I consider these things a good exercise in patience which, in the end, helps on the course sometimes, too... ;=]
  13. Don't think there's much in the way of an alternative... And we do get the stuff eventually, which is the good part after all. ;=]
  14. Agree, it's spotty. Sometimes I get things right away, sometimes a club will sit there for more than a week. I found when I called, it also depended on who answered the phone. One woman was like trying to talk to someone in Kafka's "Castle..." But I called back another day, and a guy I happened to get was very nice and went looking for the TSG package after I told him it was a golf club from Japan. Got it the day after I talked to him. So it's worth a call (or two) if there's too much of a delay.

  16. Couldn't agree more. Seems like ever since TM decided to go white, every US company is in a race to the bottom. I was in a local shop yesterday, and the iron rack looked like a "Day Of The Dead" festival...
  17. I keep a pretty detailed stats diary, and it confirms what i've said from Day-1 about the t.388 -- that what I appreciate about it is its workability. I'm hitting more fairways because i'm able to work the ball like a 3-wood. In addition to the fun factor in that, I've seen my Index come down, which is my bottom line stat. The gain in distance is a bonus for me, pure gravy, but i honestly don't rank that first. I've learned that for my game, improving my scoring involves improved targeting more than gaining distance. I'm not that long a hitter to begin with, and although bringing an average drive up 10 to 12 yards is definitely welcome, I don't consider it the main asset of this club. I've ordered a second one as backup in case anything ever happens to this baby. And confession..., I've slept with it at the foot of my bed a couple of times now. (My wife accepts that eccentricity, as she knows it's a zone kinda thing... <g> )
  18. So, even you don't have any further insight on what the delay is about, Chris? Or do you...?
  19. Agree with you, b-dog. It keeps getting better and better for me, too. And per my initial reaction, it was pretty damn good to begin with. It's gotten to the point that all I have to do is visualize the path I want, fade or draw, high or low, and it just goes. And goes. I've ordered a second, as I'd be afraid to think of this thing disappearing. Ever.
  20. Gripmaster online makes excellent leather grips, but not sure you'd like the feel. I like their Kangaroo grip, but it's not what i'd call soft, definitely not tacky. I play without a glove, too, and used to use Winn Excel's, but they stopped making the ones I liked. Switched to Tour Velvet, and just recently switched to their DuraTech. It's like Tour Velvet on top, but the underside is soft like and tacky like the old Excel or the DriTac you're using.
  21. Beer -- so you go into what must be a Ft. Knox vault, select a set of clubs from what must be the primo rotation that even the most active collector has ever seen, and then you go out and play "a rinky dink muni dogtrack" of a course...? Really?
  22. Anyone hear of Hiskei shafts? Know anything about them?
  23. Love that Cherry Wood Grain -- reminds me of a 3-wood I had as a kid. Thanks for posting.
