  1. and the poor bugger is a journeyman who is short and bald so he deserves a little love and glory. I love all of the Majors - and if I had to put any of them at the bottom of the list it would be the PGA. But nobody cares what I think ... or what anyone on this forum thinks. I'm busy packing for a trip to Pebble Beach so I'll leave you all to it....
  2. correct guys and it sure does get a lot of favorable comments.....and it putts nicely.
  3. absolute nonsense to suggest the winner of just this tournament is the CHAMPION of the Year....for all golf on the planet. He is only the Champion of the British Open and for that year. He is no more entitled to be considered the greatest of all golfers for the entire year than the winner of the US Open or any of the Majors. And apart from all of that - it was on a links course where luck is a big player - the bounce of the ball on those 'fairways' can mean a massive difference. >>> Anyone who thinks Brian Harman is the CHAMPION of all golfers for 2023 is clearly not shuffling a full deck. No 1 race or competition should be the judge of all competitors over the course of a year. But humans have argued for ages over who is the GOAT and that too is pointless and is purely subjective. We don't need to know if Tiger was the greatest or if it was Jack.... or some of the other greats - just enjoy all of them for their amazing talent.
  4. I've got quite a few different shafts in high-end putters and I'm not seeing much difference - probably just another good marketing ploy with these putter-only shafts.. To highlight this, I even cut down a special carbon driver shaft (looks like a stick of bamboo) bought from Japan and put it in a Scotty Cameron putter. I only did this because the shaft didn't work in my driver, but it was such a sexy looking shaft, I had to use it for something.....and it cost me over $1000. So now I have a really impressive-looking Scotty Cameron putter and it works just as good as the others - which have dedicated putter shafts in them. Like all golf equipment - it's very much a subjective thing and you should just go with what feels right to you.
  5. Harman needs to apologize to all of us Golf lovers/watchers for turning what should have been a dramatic final round into a yawn. I was going to send him a nasty email, but the poor guy is short and bald, so let's give him a break.
  6. Whilst I vigorously oppose the nonsense of GOLFER OF THE YEAR being applied to the winner (it's really just the BEST golfer at that championship - that year) I still enjoy watching because it is a Major and there generally is plenty of drama. Not sure we will get the drama this year with Harman well clear going into the last round. He'd have to have a shocker to lose - but that can happen. I won't be shattered if he does lose though - because his ANNOYING pre-shot routine of 25 waggles is infuriating. If any of my golf buddies came up with that rubbish we'd not hesitate to poison him or at the least hide his clubs. The problem is there will be dopes out there who think it's now a good idea to have a million waggles before hitting the ball. Slow play is bad enough without that creeping in.
  7. forget about what others think - most of them can't afford the really good equipment anyway. If you have expensive irons then they are probably made of softer metal and they deserve to be protected. I have many sets and they always go out with covers. If anyone is critical of that I normally beat them repeatedly with my putter..... because it can handle a few dings.
  8. Just finished watching the last 10 mins of the Women's Final - that's all I can put up with. Two women with names most people have never heard of.....what happened to the great days of Graf-Navratilova-Evert etc ? Must be getting old. Looked at the top 10 seeds - never heard of 9 of them. Anyway - sexism aside, women's sport is bloody hard to watch when compared to what the men produce. Golf might be one of the few sports where women can actually entertain us. I mean who wasn't entertained when Michelle Wie bent down to pick up her ball. Oops - there's that sexism thing again. But I make no apologies....all this WOKE crap needs to go away. Like the tattoo fad.
  9. I have the Zinger 5 in my Callaway Paradigm driver and just loving it - best shaft I've had in years....and I've tried plenty.
  10. does it really matter - as long as everyone plays what they like. There's no right or wrong - just bad choices.
  11. that's why some people like one thing and others like another - thankfully there are options. Clearly the biggest seller is graphite and that is one of the reasons they cost more - apart from manufacturing costs. I prefer the colour options in graphite - not heard many people say their steel shafts look sexy. But the real key is scoring - play hickory if it lowers your scores - anything that gets the job done.
  12. if you're an older player, say beyond 40, or are on the weaker side, GRAPHITE becomes the better option. You will get better vibration control and pick up your swing speed with the lighter weights. The stronger and younger players who are on tour prefer steel for many reasons, mainly control and consistency. But the senior tour players are often using graphite.
  13. the last thing anyone should be investigating - many better shafts out there now
  14. so many good options - with many of the 'mature' recreational golfers finding lighter is better. Steel has some good points for sure, but if you need some vibration protection and lighter weights - it's graphite that wins.
  15. there is a reason we have MANY shaft options - it's never going to be one suits all. Have spoken to a lot of people who love Autoflex and many who cannot come to grips with the tech and are better suited to a more 'traditional' shaft. The good news is we have a lot of great choices and nobody is holding a gun to our head when it comes to selecting.
  16. They will come down in price once other companies jump on the bandwagon. Personally I don't care because I have no issue spending $10k a year on new golf stuff. Luckily I have no kids - thus a lot of time and money - and loving it!
  17. Noticed a few of the legends of golf - all over 80 now - using those pink Autoflex shafts recently. I couldn't turn up for golf with PINK shafts. So I went for the ZINGER from Syncagraphite and they are very similar in tech - and they are really good. Now Autoflex has finally produced a decent color scheme - yellow and black. Regardless of which one you might try - I believe this is a revolution in golf that is not going away.
  18. For irons ..... I need something that is softer than a baby's bum and more forgiving than Mother Teresa
  19. amazing how many people were surprised and impressed when they went to lighter shafts - and I'm one of them. For iron shafts - I like CRAZY. And for a driver shaft - just bite the bullet and get one of the new Syncagraphite ZINGER offerings - as good as anything out there.
  20. given the depth of competition out there - good luck to them. But it's not one I've heard about at this time.
  21. if you got the shaft/driver head fitted to your own specs I'm sure it would be even better....but my friend didn't bother with any of that. He just bought the Zinger in the lighter weight option - put it in an existing Callaway driver head he had...and it just worked like a dream. It didn't feel as whippy as the AutoFlex and is definitely a better color. I know nothing more. But there is a website for that company.
  22. my friend put a ZINGER (Syncagraphite) in his driver and WOW - automatic improvements in everything. I had a hit with it and must admit this is a shaft that is as good as anything I've ever tried and I've tested many of the top options. Do yourselves a favor and get one !!!
  23. not those - but I did buy and recommend their new black irons "anniversary model". EPON irons are rarely disappointing.
