  1. traded my cow for some magic beans once - that worked out pretty good....and then even topped that when I let the kids go for a set of Ping Eye 2's
  2. we might be dead and buried by the time this happens, but can see a day when people get to test/see new gear through VR technology. Might need an Elon+ to develop such a thing. The way the world is going, golf might only be played through that medium eventually....and thankfully we will not be around to suffer that fate. As for this issue we've been discussing - I used to live in Hong Kong and thus it was not an issue. I was able to see and test the gear first and enjoyed that a lot. But since moving away from Asia - the buying experience has been very hit and miss. I'll just have to rob more banks.....
  3. The people who contribute to this website clearly enjoy the Japanese equipment - and why not, because it is really good in general. But as I've bleated about many times, it's tough being a distant admirer because so often you have to take a leap of faith and pay big dollars for drivers/irons/wedges/putters etc that look fantastic....but don't always live up to your expectations. That has been my experience - but it didn't deter me..... and my friends certainly benefitted from my madness. Much of the guesswork could have been avoided if this website -- or any for that matter -- took the time to fully explain the new items and, even better, provide a video review. I'm unaware of any other English websites that specialize in Japanese golf equipment, so I'm stuck with this one. But I have to admit that in recent times I've moved back to the "Western" golf stuff because I know what I'm getting (or testing). I particularly like the PXG offerings. Despite all of my complaining I'll probably keep an eye on this website because I'm addicted to buying great golf stuff.
  4. I always keeps tabs on the new equipment shown on this website because I'm always looking for more weapons to buy - which is why I now have a room full of great equipment that I no longer use. But I'm tempted to just not bother reading any more because the translations here are just ridiculous and do more to confuse a customer than explain what the new gear might do - and I realize this is only an issue if you don't read Japanese. We've discussed this before, but it is just lazy and shows little care for the customers by having "Google translations" explain what is new. Just take some time to read through them under New Items and you will see how ridiculous some of the English translations are. If this was my business I'd be doing a LOT more to help and interest the loyal customers and potential new ones....but maybe the owners don't need the money?
  5. just bought the latest XXIO hybrids and they are very good
  6. you can be fitted for these in different places through the USA -- and elsewhere. That info is on their website.
  7. Ping is getting good reviews for the latest drivers - my little issue with them is the lumps on the crown...their Turbulators. I know they are there for a reason (better at cutting through the wind etc) but I just find them unappealing to my eye. So I don't buy them.... Would consider doing so in the future if they sex them up...
  8. I am enjoying the BLOGS on this website -- we get one every pancake day!
  9. I had a Yamaha about 5 or 6 years back and liked it. I buy new drivers every year - my favorites these days must be CARBON FIBRE loaded....love that softer/mushier feel/sound. And I am liking the new Kinetixx shafts - found that lighter shafts with some good kick really suit me. But it is all very much individual...so who cares what I like. I just buy lots of expensive stuff and end up with clubs all over the place.
  10. we need to get all food and water workers and redirect them to sorting out any golf equipment delays and shortfalls -- PRIORITIES people !!
  11. I buy lots of equipment each year and the Miura 401's are in the bag - think you'll like them.
  12. yes I think we'd all be happy to review if they would send us the equipment..... 🤩
  13. Always fun to see the new stuff on the website -- just a shame we rarely get to learn enough about them. As I've said many times - the quality is great but you pay a premium and thus you start getting gun-shy about buying without trying. This website desperately needs some really insightful reviewing of all the new stuff. That would get me reaching for the credit card way more often. Been burnt too many times.
  14. never played them myself - but I'm always open-minded and enjoy looking into the new stuff
  15. and I can see it has obviously sparked GREAT interest from the forum members....
  16. I see we have some new Royal Collection clubs back on the market. The FW and Utility clubs are on this website and a driver is coming soon. They look good - be interested to see more information.
  17. you just have to grease the right palms.....
  18. my irons are SO FORGIVING.... they apologize after every shot
  19. This is a photo of an old mallet putter from the Wood Bros website. This is very similar to what I had - same materials and same cork grip...but mine was more of a light brown colour and it had the famous DaVinci human body drawing on the top of the mallet. Apparently these were available and popular in Asia in the early 1990's. I was given one and it was the best putter I ever had and I've owned 50 different putters if I've had one. The problem was with the ceramic-like material and where the shaft went in - it would easily break. Mine snapped at that point during travel. I've never been able to find a replacement. Wood Bros stopped making them 25 years ago - around the time they went out of business. There is a push from that company in recent times to make a return of some kind - mainly concentrating on their popular persimmon wood clubs.
