  1. Oh yes we cant forget the Nike Ignite, I think it feels better than the TM and should be considered a top contender against these drivers. With the new R7 I am going to go to the practice range before the round and figure out what my drives will do that day then adjust the weights and hit the course, Today I felt I could have done a lot better with a different configuration than i started the round with. I really wish they sold the Expansion weight kit with 18, 14, 4 & 8 gram weights. If your a Ho then this is a fun toy. Its a 510TP with adjustable ball flight :)
  2. Tourstage X-Drive 390 prospec vs Taylormade R7 Quad Today was my second round with the Taylormade R7 quad driver. Todays setting was High-Left. The first thing i think of is the 510TP, these two drivers have a very deep face with just about the same feel and distance. Today It was a rainy day on an almost empty golf course so i hit 6 balls total 2 with the R7, 2 with the X390, & 2 with the 510TP on every hole for 9 holes and was able to get some great feedback from all three. The X390 was the longest even though it is conforming when the R7 is high C.O.R, the R7 was closest to the center all day long helping my fade straighten out. The ball flight of the R7 on several holes was very strange it almost faded then began to draw. I think the thing that could make the R7 longer is the fact that it reduces the spin you don't want by changing the configuration. It has the same exact feel as a 510tp which was no surprise. The R7 was more forgiving than all three of the drivers except on heel and toe shots when compared to the X390. I am going to need more time with the X390 & R7 Quad before i figure out which one stays in the bag. The R7 I bought is not a Tour Issue as far as I know, its just an early production model with no serial #s. My R7 looks square to half a degree open. The X390 is visually much more open.

  4. This club is very long on mis**ts to me and I tottaly agree that it works better at a lower tee level. I have never noticed the strange ass piece nor has it bothered me one bit. And gotta love that feel it is muted hollow perfection ala tourstage ;icecream
  5. This is a sweet club man, I just recently put a Speeder Type6 graphite shaft in one and it was 10 times more forgiving and easier to hit for some reason. I highly suggest graphite in driving irons.
  6. OK the Tour R7s have landed and I got mine this morning head not in the plastic and it was hit 1 or two rounds i will post pics tomorrow afternoon of it. The Driver is your typical feeling Taylormade driver same as the 580XD in terms of feel. I hit about 3 large buckets of balls with it today and was overall very pleased with its performance. Its pretty long still not longer than the Cti but Id say its about the same distance as a TP. It was indeed very forgiving with off center hits high - low, heel - toe still moving well with not much of a sacrifice in distance. How hard is it to adjust the weights? I did all 4 in a little over 2 minutes, these screws were un strip-able by my hands and this club seemed very durable. The weight ports actually helped my ball flight getting the club back to square easier but it wasn't the cure to turn my fades into draws. It also brings a whole other mental aspect into drives, Does the weight adjustment make you subconsciously change your swing? I'm gonna have to take this to the course tomorrow for a bigger better review of it. But the R7 Quad MAX has been pre released in limited numbers starting today with its official release date in about 7 days from now.

  8. I play scratch wedges right now, 47, 53, 58 round shape in nickel/black fill. What i really have an itch for now is the scratch proto wedges, I had a few I really should have not sold because now i think that they will be worth a good coin when world hears about scratch. What we all should keep in mind is that a 100% Handmade wedge is extremely rare and very expensive, on the average in Japan MOZ Ishihara ( same forged heads as scratch ) sells the custom ground soft forged wedges for 500+. No two heads will look exactly the same and that is what makes these wedges an individual style thing as well as a common sense approach to custom club work. They are made in the U.S.A but forged in the heart of Japan. Get Custom, Get Scratch.
  9. Check these 2004 Masters Team Tourstage shirts for the staff. Team Izawa & Team Maru.
  10. Here are pics from the top 20 or so players in the JPGA, they had to leave out Shingo because he was in the midst of choosing his bag when this article was written. Shingo is using pro combos, 380+ ignite, Nike FW, Nike T100 Utility's and a DFX 2-ball putter this week. Izawa is switching in July to a new Japanese gauge Proto that is supposed to be gauges version of a futura style putter. Of the top players in the JPGA the #1 Driver was the X-Drive Series and the #1 set of Irons with most wins and most play is the X-Blade CBs. The putter of Choice is 1st Scotty Cameron & 2nd Gauge Designs Japan.
  11. Chris, do the ViQ have square faces? Please tell me more about the design. Thanks. The ViQ is a really solid FW, but its just as closed as the F/ST.
  12. The CTI is long and forgiving, the head is huge but its got great ratings in the golf mags. very expensive club retail is 115,000yen or 800.00 + shipping +3% through me.
  13. Ive decided to start documenting the golf course's I play at in Japan and usually get the opportunity to attend one twice a month. This month we went to Gotemba Kogen Golf Course for a 7:56am tee time near the base of Mt Fuji about 3 hours from where I live. During the first several holes there was still snow in the bunkers but on a nice day at 61 degrees it shortly melted away. The first thing i noticed was this course was short at just under 6,200yds. First hole was a 419yd par 5 8O , I hit a very poor drive yet still had only a 6 iron to the green. The Fairways were very tight with several in course Ob's and the greens were lightning fast. Last month playing in Hawaii I became accustomed to slow soft grainy greens sloping away from the mountains toward the sea but now it rock hard super quick greens that were always elevated. Gotemba Kogen is very Hilly but for the most part rough was never a problem most of the grass is dead in the winter. Here are some pics of the great time TS girl and I had. http://www.fototime.com/ftweb/bin/ft.dll/s...8075.4276856366 http://www.fototime.com/ftweb/bin/ft.dll/s...8075.4257807755 http://www.fototime.com/ftweb/bin/ft.dll/s...8075.4269154051 http://www.fototime.com/ftweb/bin/ft.dll/s...8075.4259800694 http://www.fototime.com/ftweb/bin/ft.dll/s...38075.438639375
  14. There are lots of new additions to the Hybrid style club scene in the U.S market but for those of you who havent seen many of the Japanese Utility woods here are some also that rank very well in terms of Hybrids. [/img]
  15. E-mail sent man, I'm pretty sure that Zomo will be making an entire line of clubs in the near future but i seriously doubt maru will switch from Tourstage. I have seen a couple pics in the magazines that are to poor to scan for ya guys but there are some really cool full page ads all black with just a shingo style cowboy hat with the Nike logo on it. I think shingo plays any putter he wants with no affiliation to GD Japan, Its just GD Japan Caters to him very well. I believe Shingo is paid by Gauge - USA, but that may be going away soon as they are not getting much mileage out of the sponsorship in terms of US attention. That is very wrong, as far as I know Shingo never played a GD U.S.A putter, He has only played Gauge Japan putters. GD Japan and GD U.S.A are two very different companies.
  16. Yes sir anything tourstage you need i can get. The great thing is tons of new bags were just released this month in Japan. Take a look in the Tour Spec links area for the Bridgestone site and they have pics and specs of every new bag you may be interested in. :)
