The £60 fitting is money well spent. You will learn a lot about your game and the shafts and head that will suit you. You may even find out that the Nippons you have ordered are not the right shafts for you. If that is the case you will have avoided a mistake . Precisiongolf do a very good job and IMO provide a far better service and workmanship than any other clubfitter I have been to. If you were to buy the Nippons from Golfsmith who offer a Puring service they would add on £10 per shaft. That brings in the club building part as £15 which is reasonable . The fitting takes about 2 hours and they use state of the art Flightscope and Hotstix software. The workshop is fully equiped . I have asked around a lot of forums about the benefits of Puring as I also had my doubts about it. The replies I got lead me to the conclusion that it is important. One thing I do know is that every club Precisiongolf has made for me has exceded my expectation and has stayed in my bag. In the long run this has saved me money as I would have continued to chop and change clubs. £60 of the £300 is for the fitting the info you get from that will influence future purchases and maybe even this one if the Nippons are not right for you. It is a one off thing that you will not have to do again. £240 is for Puring and Club building . Having been through the process that seems cheap to me. A friend of mine that is a PGA pro and has access to a workshop and can build his own clubs got fitted last week and has decided on them building his clubs. His driver shaft was all wrong for him. His Sonartec Md 21* had the right shaft for him Fuji 904HB X flex but it was not Pured and was too soft for him. He had it pulled and is going to have another 904HB X flex Pured and fitted. His iron shafts were right for him X 100s but the short irons will be softened up a bit in the new clubs as they were too stiff for his action. There is more to this club building than just getting the right shafts and installing them . They get tweaked to suit your action. IMHO the service they provide is first rate and worth the money.

My friend in Thailand has a J33 P 8.5* Tour on it's way to him 200 grm head. He is going to have a GD PM 702 S flex fitted to it. He does not have much confidence in the clubmakers over there and wants tipping advice. The Build to Frequency is 6.7. or 250 CPMs at 45" and 254 CPMs at 44.5" How much should the GD PM 702 be tipped?

It looks like the tour issue J33R head I bought for a friend in Thailand has been lost in the post. He is in the market for a J33R 9.5* . 420 cc prefered in 9.5* in 420 or a 460 in same loft.

I agree with this 100%. when I got fitted by and had a driver made by www.precisiongolf.co.uk I could not believe the difference it made.

The shaft has a fantastic feel. No question it helps with distance control and feel.

I have the heavy weight Nippon putter shaft in my putter. It helps if you have a yippy handsy type stroke which is what I have. The UST putter shaft is fantastic for feel but makes the head heavy . My experiences with club fitters and club fitting up to now have not been good and at best so so . I was naturally sceptical and came with moderate expectations . After a long drive down to ext 11 on the M25 from East London I was in no mood to get straight on the launch monitor until I had settled and had a little stretch. Simon Cooper the fitter and a Euro Tour player had a go with my driver ( 10.5* R7 TP with a 1/2 tipped Fujikura 660 Tour Spec). He wobbled it around and said it was stiff then made some swings. I watched the data on the LDS 120 MPH 120 MPH 120 MPH there is no doubt this guy is a golfer and can hit the ball. I then looked at the other data being displayed to get a better understanding of the logic of any shaft choices that were going to made. I then stepped up and started swinging away. The data showed that my launch angle was too high and on my faster swings the spin rates shot up so that I ended up hitting the ball less far than I did on slower SS.I hit a really big one by my standards and looked up at the LDS for confirmation . There it was in black and white the 5MPH or so increase in SS had in fact sent the ball out there with 2 yards of less carry. The data explained and fitted in exactly what was happening on the course. My beefy whacked shots balloon and don't go as far. Against the wind I am screwed . In short the driver set up did not suit me and the figures showed it and proved it. He then took my driver over to the workshop area and did some tests on it and then went into the explanation on why the set up did not suit me etc. I had no plans to go there to have my driver fitted I just wanted the 3 wood fitted right and pured but the evidence that my driver was not right for me was just too overwhelming. He was not going for the hard sell just giving it to me straight. The Ice Cream van turned up and James the club fitter bought me a 99 ice cream. I asked a lot of questions checked the data again and had a little pace around. My intuition and gut feel was that Simon's findings were correct and beyond doubt and my old R7 TP was heading to Ebay. Simon then pulled up the Hotstix suggestions . He told me that some of the shafts on the suggestion sheet were not right for me as I tend to hold the club off a little and hit a slight cut. The shafts that did not have a suitable torque were discarded. Simon was concentrating and working things out. He then handed me a big headed Cleveland driver with an Accra in it and asked me to swing away. It felt good in my hands and I made some good swings . When I looked up at the LDS my spin rates were down and closer to where Simon would like them. I then hit a big one giving it all I got to see how the shaft would perform. On the downswing I could tell the shaft was a little too soft for me as I turned round to see the data Simon said that that shaft was a good choice but would have to be stiffened up a bit to suit me. I had not said a word and Simon was fixed with his back to me looking at the laptop. This was science at work not vaig guesstimation. He narrowed the shaft choices to two options an Accra and a Fuji 652 and said the R7 TP 9.5* would suit me. I am looking for a 9.5 head right now and will be going back to have it fitted. I had just purchased a Fuji Tour Spec TRTI46 which I had brought along to be fitted to the GAF 1 . It was not one of his suggestions and he took the shaft away to do some tests on it. He said the shaft was not one of his suggestions as they did not have the data on the hotstix data base but his tests showed it could work. I picked up the club last night and the workmanship is first rate. Today I tested it against the Sonartec 14* SS 3.5 that I purchased from Andrew 8. Both clubs are good and I felt comfortable hitting both but the results showed a big difference. The fitted and pured GAF 1 was hitting the ball much longer. The ball just keeps going when I was expecting it to drop. I think this has something to do with the spin rates being optimumised. Simon also had a look at my Sonartec Mds ( 19* and 23* fitted with Fuji Tour Spec 904 HBs) which I had just purchased and not played with. He told me that the 19* was too soft for me but would work OK when I swung easy but if I went after it the shaft would open the club face leading to leaky blocked shots right. I practiced on Sunday with the clubs and his findings were spot on. I spoke to him and after going through my data he suggested an X flex in the 904 HB they both have S flex . I have come to the conclusion that all this chopping and changing is a waste of time and money. From now on Precision golf are doing my wood fitting. I am happy with my iron set up and did not go for an iron fitting so I can not comment on this. So far I have described the specifics of what went on. Both Simon and James are nice guys that are really into what they are doing. I got the feeling they were both trying to get me fitted up right and meant it. In the past I had a good club fitter do work for me but sometimes he was not bothered to put in the effort and did half hearted work. That is not the case with these guys. It really is a case of putting the customer first . They are the South of England Miura fitters . You don't get Miura fitting dealerships unless you are top notch. I will post again when I have had the Mds and driver fitted. I have no doubt that the Simon and James will get me those missing yards with the driver." I purchased a 9.5* R7 TP Tour Issue and a Fuji 652 R flex and two Fuji 904HB X flex recommended and went to Wentworth on the Tuesday of the PGA Championships to drop them off to Simon and James who were on the practice ground fitting clubs for the pros. Simon was on the range hitting balls as well if not better than most the tour players there.Precisiongolf recommended a Fujikura 652 R Flex for my driver tipped to make it more like a stiff shaft. When I questioned this James told me that as I was a high spin player the Reg shaft tipped up would suit me better than a Stiff shaft as it would keep the spin rates down. I tested the club at a golf range that I frequent. At the end of the range there is a large bank to contain the balls. With my old 10.5* R7 TP shots would land before the bank then run up it. With my first swing I pitched the ball half way up the bank something I had never done before. Later on on a few hits the ball was landing towards the top of the bank. The ball flight was much more penetrating and just seemed to keep on going. My bad hits were much better than my former bad hits with the ball curving less to the right and going much further. My good hits are so much better it is almost as though a better player is taking my tee shots. The club feels right, swings right and performs right and for the first time I KNOW that I have a driver that REALLY suits ME. When I played with it my playing partner who WAS much longer than me he commented on the huge improvement in my driving and the perfect ball flight. He used to hit it 20 to 25 yards longer than me but not any more. I have no doubt that if he got fitted by Precisiongolf he would still be 20 to 25 yards longer. The club is putting me in further up the fairway than I am used to playing from and as a result I don't have the temptation to overdo my swing to get extra distance leading to more fairways being hit. I was very much just a set up and hit it and hope for the best driver before I got this club. The idea of working the ball was a joke in my case and something I never really ever thought about. I feel so in control with this club that I have started to work my tee shots something I thought I would never do. After seeing what david92's Precisiongolf fitted driver did for his game I had high hopes that they would do the same for me. The results have been more than I had hoped for and beyond expectation. The biggest improvement I have seen is against the wind where I was previously very vulnerable. They also fitted my Sonartec Mds with Fujikura 904HB X flex. I was a bit concerned about this recommendation as I could not see how I could be a R flex in the driver and an X flex with the Mds. The Mds were fitted with Fuji 904HBs in S flex but are performing much better for ME in X flex. I don't really fully understand how Precision golf arrive at their recommendations and I don't really care but the results have proved to me beyond any doubt that they know what they are doing. Everyone on this website is into equipment and knows having the right equipment counts. It makes no sense chopping and changing to find out what works for you when there is a resource like Precisiongolf out there that takes the guess work out of the equation. If you live in the UK I recommend you save your money and get fitted by these guys . I have decided to take their recommendation of fitting my Gauge GAF1 3 wood with a Stiff Fuji 661 despite hitting my 3 wood very well. The driver results impressed me that much.
