  1. Hi there, I have a mint Axiv V 7076 (72g, SX flex) shaft in a 9* Yamaha V r.p.m. head (2009, also mint) that I was about to put up for sale - either together or separately. Not sure if you are still interested? Cheers Darren
  2. Hey Chris, only just spotted this (been a slack poster of late), so I will just say the following. If you scour the golf patent literature you'll find nano-additives in composite reinforcement (eg carbon nanotubes, graphene, layered silicates, polysilsesquioxanes or POSS), in adhesives, and yes in golf ball cores, mantles and covers (even clear coatings!). Often it's there but some companies prefer not to market with nano branding. Public awareness and nano health and safety still has some ground to cover, and to be honest the nano thing has all been pushed a bit too hard too early in some fields. Some of the early stuff was opportunistic and rubbish (from a purely technical viewpoint) - lately there's some great new technology going into products. I can tell you first hand it's happening! I really enjoyed my 2 trips to the JP Golf Fair and Tokyo NanoTech Trade Fair (07 and 09 I think) - bumped into Chris both times - hope to do it again one year soon! Cheers D
  3. Yamaha V get my vote. Low spin, great feel and perfect size for tee and fairway work.
  4. I've just un-mothballed a new JP Mizuno 300s Tour Spirit and loving it. These small drivers seem to encourage a different swing and engage the senses a bit more. Playing it in a comp this Sunday to see if "what happens on the range stays on the range", or if it keeps me on the fairway more often.
  5. These are THE ones I've been waiting for. That they make a 60/08 is a good start for the firm fairways here! Look forward to more info
  6. Based on this thread I took my 10 degree Mizuno (Tour Spirit Model III) 300s driver to the range today. Hadn't hit it for years and I have only played on the course with it once. It's in mint condition with original Mizuno "Amorphous Carbon Special Tune" shaft (s flex) and grip. What a revelation! Such a rewarding connection from hands to ball and really not that hard to middle despite being 300cc volume. I'm very excited to get on the course with it again and have some fun. I have a question regarding re-shafting this club versus leaving it in tact (I doubt it's worth much any more?). The original shaft plays OK but feels a touch soft for me. Flight is still low-ish despite the 10 degree loft. The club is 45 inches, D3 swingweight, but the shaft says 4.3degrees or torque!!!! If I was to re-shaft this little blue fella, should I stick to a shaft that is NOT TOO LOW in torque - I'm guessing such a small head will twist-load the shaft completely differently to all of my 440-460cc monsters, some which host ~2 degree torque shafts. The shaft I am thinking of is an older AXIV 7576L (77g, x flex, low kick, 2.9 degrees of torque) - besides, the deep blue colour, silver and gold decals and carbon weave "window" at grip end would look the sh*t with the blue Mizuno head!! Any feedback appreciated from those who may have done similar experiments - Cheers
  7. I have 2008 model (9*, 77g x Axiv 7076L) and 2009 model (10*, 74g x Accra SE70*) Both beautiful drivers to play with, both low spin, great feel, quite workable BIG difference in sound at impact - 2008 is high pitched powerful "ting", 2009 is muted solid "twok" 2008 slightly more workable than 2009 I love 'em both! All Yamaha gear is great. Cheers
  8. Agree totally Chris, true evidenced-based reporting is very hard to find these days....
  9. Chris, the images appearing are simply harrowing and give an idea of (1) the reality that thousands of people just had no hope of escaping, and (2) the monumental task ahead of clearing up and rebuilding. Having recently watched Queensland rebuild (it continues....) after serious floods and cyclones, the only good thing about these natural disasters is that the BEST of the human spirit can be observed during the weeks, months and years to follow. The true power of Japan will shine in this time.....that is.....its amazing, patient and resilient people!
  10. Yes, SOLD and shipped today. Very, very good deal!

  13. Maybe we could all have a session on Oprah?? My wife plays golf too and (semi) understands. I get just as excited about buying her gear too, so that helps!
  14. I live in St Lucia, so that's v do-able. Will do thx.
  15. Another Brisbane TSG-er here. Home course "The Brisbane Golf Club" was 3/4 submerged during recent floods - therefore not much chance to play all the new gear I've assembled and mentioned earlier in this thread!!! Off to Barnbougle Dunes in Tasmania for 3 days in Feb - can't wait!
  16. Looking for 4-PW, shafted or heads-only Have lots of JDM gear to trade....
  17. Update on above project, this summer has been excessively wet, so no great chance to compare back-to-back. On holidays this week and rain has stopped for now, so will get a chance this week. Feel does seem to be amazing in TR900/ Steelfiber combo, so excited to get on the range and compare properly. Happy New Year TSG-ers!!
  18. Congrats and nice shot! PRGR 220i #2 driving iron. It's old, but very reliable off tee and from tight or rough turf conditions. Forgiving, versatile and doesn't go left (which almost all other hybrids do for me!)
  19. Cut/ paste from Old vs New thread earlier... "Tomorrow I am starting my latest "old meets new" project - pairing some prgr TR900 "neo blade" limited forged iron heads (circa 2005?) with some 125g Aerotech Steelfiber hybrid graphite/steel iron shafts (graphite core, steel filament windings) - the hypothesis to this project is that this combination will play much like my current iron set (which I love!!.....see signature), but with even better feel - and when I play 3 days straight at Barnbougle Dunes in Feb 2011, these will be kind to my 40 year old body, and I will feel every shot!" Will report after game on Friday....
  20. Sounds great to me too!. Could you comment on the feel please? Tomorrow I pick up my "vintage" PRGR neo-blade heads fitted with "modern" Aerotech Steelfiber i125(s) composite shafts (described in my previous post this thread). Will also report how they play/feel and stick some photos in the WITB section. Hmmmmmm, they have big shoes to fill with current PRGR irons (see sig), which have taken my HCP from 8 down to 4.6 the last couple of months (sure, I need a new set of irons!!!!).
  21. I've got the Accra SE70*, SE80* in drivers and the SE80 in FW and they are brilliant Mamiya products from ~5 years ago. Love 'em! A lot of pros still play them.
  22. I look forward to hearing how the SP blues go. Did you end up going with s or x flex by the way? Cheers
  23. I like heavy shafts and have up until now favoured DGs300 and Project X over lighter Nippons and KBS. Have never tried the much-touted Nippon Super Peening Blues though - I think they would work well for me too. Next project is building a set with Aerotech Steelifiber i125 shafts, from all accounts they play like Project X (very tip stiff, lower spin), but with much better feel. Will report back in a couple of weeks!
  24. Am currently having an older set of PRGR TR 900 "neo blades" built with Aerotech Steelfiber i125s.......expecting blissful feeling sticks!
  25. Had the TC-1000s as well and - like you - love-hated them. Loved the feel, could not get used to the look of short irons at address.....
