  1. Hello all, I currently game a set of Yamaha tour model MB's from 2014 that is getting long in the tooth so to speak. I have really enjoyed them, so much so, that I think I will replace them with a newer set from Yamaha. I've been looking at the two latest tour offerings the rmx 018 and the rmx 020. Are there opinions regarding either iron. Hopefully someone has hit both, or even one of the irons and can provide feedback. One thing I'm a little concerned about is the sole width on the 020. It looks to be large for a players iron. In all honesty i've never seen the irons in person though - only photographs online. Is Yamaha still as highly regarded as they were a few years back? I don't seem to see the amount of praise or press from the company that I once did on here. Thanks for any and all feedback. Best
  2. Perfect head shape. As good as wedge gets in raw I'm betting.
  3. and I would still like to buy the heads...
  4. Did I miss these? Are they available? Looks like its limited. I would personally prefer this to the chrome.
  5. I was under the impression that the 909 was endo forged because of the materials/titanium used, but I could be wrong. Either way it is a great driver if you have the consistency and swing speed. I find it has a very muted thwock at impact, and is as long as any driver I've hit over the last few years. My swingspeed is around 117. I only note that b/c my friends that can move the ball all agree that it is a great feeling head, while those with swing speeds around 95-108 all find it firm. I don't know if this translates over to the 707 and 709 heads, but that would be interesting to see. It seems to me that many players who enjoy tourstage branded drivers have higher swing seeds. Again I could be wrong
  6. I'm a fan of 430cc and smaller drivers. I have quite a few of them, and I'm considering picking one of these up in the near future. Has anyone played or at least hit one of these? Looking forward to you responses.
  7. Thinning the herd. I have a few JDM items from a large stash of clubs I would like to part with - 1. Kail'li 80 in stiff flex. It currently has a tourstage tip. The length is 43 7/16 with tip. The shaft will be 43" without tip. It was in a tourstage 909 driver head that played 44.25" for reference. $90 2. Srixon Z-TX II 3 wood (head only) This is a sleeper of a 3 wood. It has been my gamer for a year and a half. It has been hot melted and currently weighs 220 grams. Club is in good shape and has no skymarks. It does have a smudge in the paint on the middle top of the club. $100 3. This is a BB26 Bettinardi putter I sent of to Golds Factory a few years ago. Sasaya-san added two extra sight lines bringing the total to 3. He also added silver ingots bringing the weight to 348 to the putter head. I added a bit of lead tape to the rear for feel which is easily removable if you desire. Putter is 34" length and has a Cameron Baby-t grip. Finish is starting to wear on the bottom of the putter. slight blemish in finish on topline towards toe of putter. This is very hard to see. I have the counter-balance bug at the moment, and this is on the bench, but I won't be too upset if this doesn't sell as I have a lot invested and putt well with it. Oh and the BB26 is getting hard to find. $375 4. Fourteen MT28 V5 forged wedge. This has a leading edge and trailing edge grind done by Joe Kwok, and is currently shafted with a DG spinner shaft at 35.5". Grooves still sharp but finish is wearing. $70 5. Tourstage x-ut. This is an awesome hybrid. One of the first x-ut's but still as good as anythng out there IMHO. Shafted with Rombax Prototype in X flex at 40.25". Club is in good shape for its age. No skymarks, but there is a scratch toward the back of the hybrid. $80 Might be open to trades on players type clubs with x flex (JDM & USDM) Thanks and don't hesitate to ask questions. If I'm out of line on price make an offer.
  8. Hello, Are any manufactures making a blade with low bounce, a flat sole and sharp leading edge? This type of club seems to go against the grain of most club makers philosophies these days, but do any of you JDM aficionados know of a conforming groove club that fits this description? I don't play this type of club all the time, but in the southeast of the USA the fairways get baked and hard in the summer, and as a sweeper of the ball this seems to be the only type of club I have success with in these conditions. I currently play the original x-blade mb's from circa 2002-03 - the sole is flat and thin and the leading edge is knife sharp. I have played the x-blade 901's but found the leading edge to be very blunted or killed and didn't work well for me. I am partial to tourstage blades - I love the feel and shape - the soles are all thin, but how is the leading edge on the 905's or 909's? is it blunted like the 901 or did they go back to a sharper edge like the original x blade? Which recent Miura blade has the thinnest sole and sharpest leading edge? I will appreciate any input you have. Thanks.
  9. I know I'm kind of late to the party with this driver, but better late than never. I've been playing this with a di-7x for about 3 weeks. I have 5 rounds and a few range sessions under my belt. It is a flat out awesome driver if you have the swingspeed and consistency with your swing. The last few drivers I have played I have been fitted for on a trackman, so I was a little hesitant to buy this without even seeing it. I found one for a great deal, so I was sure I could flip it if it ended up not being my cup of tea. I am so glad I did. I am getting to places on the golf course routinely that I have only been a few times over the past 3 or so years. Maybe the best attributes of this driver are its looks and feel. I know both of these are very subjective, but the pear shape deep face and no nonsense aesthetics just work for me. Epon forged drivers have always felt great, this is no exception. When hit on the screws this driver delivers a great sensation to the hands. Soft, but not overly so. It feels powerful, and the ball launches of the face. The feel kind of reminds me of the callaway ft-tour, except better if any of you have hit one. The one thing that really surprised me is that the driver is somewhat forgiving if your misses are high and toward the toe (which mine are). I didn't lose too much distance, and the ball stayed on a good trajectory when hit high and on the toe. Low side and heel is punished pretty bad. They fly really low, and distance loss is considerable, but at least they stay straight. I highly recommend it to anyone that likes a deep faced driver and is consistent with a higher swingspeed.
  10. My brother plays the 11* in standard setting with a UST Mamiya Elements Chrome 65f4t . He is loving it. I have never seen him drive the ball any better. I have hit it a few times but it isn't really set up properly for me. I imagine with a 70 ish gram x flex shaft in the 9.5* setting I could be pretty happy with the driver. The only thing lacking in my opinion is feel. I have been spoiled by the tourstage 909.
  11. It looks like the adapter only controls the face angle, but effective loft will be changed if you open or close the face. I have mine in the 'r' setting which is the most open setting. I haven't had the face angle tested but it looks dead neutral to maybe a degree open. I can play this head with no problem, and I am very picky about driver face angles. I will be putting a di-7x in this week. I have one sitting around, and its a shaft that works very well for me in a number of different heads. I will report back.
