Another kind of experiment with driver.

This is my experience with the Skitter shaft.

I had this 365cc Tourstage P02-6 limited edition head that was sitting around and this Skitter shaft that I bought on eBay several month ago.

Tourstage X Drive P02-6 is a driver that was limited edition back a few years ago as part of the 705 series. Only 1000 units made 365cc pair shaped Endo greatness!!

This Skitter shaft is a XX stiff shaft ... but honestly it feels like a ladies flex on the bottom half of the shaft.

Not exaggerating. It truely feels like a shaft from the Orange Whip swing trainer.

So pairing this up, I was going to make it my training driver so to practice good tempo and good smooth swing. When you try to yank this club in anyway, you will get a rather severe hook.

So I took this driver today along with my Yupitel swing speed meter.

Took a couple of shots with the Epon / Stinger good hard swing around 106 to 108 mph SS not bad ....

Next P02-6 / Skitter XX first swing very easy around 50% ... 108 mph "What?!!" Nice straight shot too! Next swing give it a bit more ... maybe 75% .. 114 mph!! Baby draw high launch!!

I want more!! OK 100% !! Big F***ing hook shot!! but SS was "118 mph " ...

Holy Smokes! I did not expect this. I have never seen swing speed this high from myself.

A bit gimmicky? I thought so too. But seeing is believing!

Apparently there are 60 Pros on the Japan Senior tour using this shaft. Not surprised now.

I am gonna have to find a few more of these shafts and try them on different heads.

I have the Athlete 550 model which is around 70g @ 46" raw.

I might actually pay them a visit while in Japan.

I've seen this shaft in a couple of drivers in Tokyo shops. First time I saw it I thought it was some sort of training aid that the staff mistakenly had put among 'real' clubs. Yes, the shaft is extremely flexible. I think I saw the R flex too. It's so soft the clubhead was drooping towards the floor when you held the club out/away from you

I also wonder why they write 70/75 grams for weight? Are there 2 versions of the XX?

Yeah, it's almost like the driver head is attached to a string. Except this "string" has tremendous kick back effect at impact with the right timing. And as you mention, the stiffer flexes do come in two weights.

So, do you have a long and loopy swinger kind of swing? I have a pretty short and a bit "stabby" swing, a hard swing so to speak.

I think a video is in order!
