  1. Hi guys, it's been a couple years since I've been on the forums. Nice to see them still going strong.

I'm finally making a trip to Japan and figured what better place to ask for suggestions and advice than TSG forums.

From the best Kobe beef, to the best Sushi, Bennock fittings, golf courses and general "must-sees"... if you can give me some recommendations it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and hope you're all doing well.

    Rob.

  3. I'm going to pickup the Eyeline Putting Mirror as soon as I get back home. I think it has everything anyone could possibly need all in one package. There's a bigger one and a smaller, more portable one. Thing I like about them is you can nail your setup perfectly every time. Will really help with consistency in the setup, which for me, is half the battle.

We get a lot of feedback.

Tour AD and Fujikura are the safe bets.  Fujikura EVO series especially then Tour AD DI which is now the IZ get great reviews as well.  Anyone that comes to me wanting a mid range non botique shaft i lean EVO IV and people are happy.

Diamana does not get the same feedback as GD and Fuji for some reason even though they have great design and materials.

In the high-end besides the 7D and AAA the Crazy 9 is the champ.

My personal opinion is that Diamana requires more swing-speed and more aggression for their shafts to perform at their best. More so than Fuji and Graphite Design. Might be the reason... Might also be the reason Mitsubishi is my favorite shaft company. They just work for me.

  5. Ya, I've pretty much tried everything and I don't think most of us on here (myself included) would benefit spending $800 on a super exotic Crazy shaft over $400 Mitsubishi, Fuji or Graphite Design, but something tells me logic doesn't take the place of addiction on this forum. :tsg_smiley_japanese:Count me in.

Side note: Quadra, in my opinion is the most underrated shaft company. Fantastic shafts.

  6. Interesting. I've studied this topic a lot in the last six months. As with most things, there are varying opinions. Most "experts" think there is something to FLO'ing but not much to finding the spine with a spine finder. They say they lie to you. If you do believe in all of this, most "experts" agree that S1 (Spine 1 - stiffest part of the shaft) should face straight up and N1 (neutral 1 - most stable part of the shaft) should face down the target line. N1 and N2 form a 180* line and S1 and S2 form a 180* line through the shaft. It's impossible to have a shaft with an S point and an N point 180* from each other.

For me personally, I don't have a frequency machine so I have to rely on FLO'ing by pulling the shaft back and releasing it by hand and I find it very inaccurate. Depending on my pull and release, the shaft can oscillate clockwise or counterclockwise. I do however use a spine finder and to me, I can absolutely feel what part of the shaft has the most resistance and I install the shaft with the stiffest direction facing straight up, to prevent shaft droop coming into impact. Most "experts" say shaft droop will cause more mis**ts that anything else, so it makes sense to have the stiffest part of the shaft pointing up, to counter this.

With all this being said, it might be complete nonsense. I just figure if I can do it, and I enjoy it, why not? But with most things in life, to each their own.

I'm not a connoisseur of stainless steel varietals, but here is my collection of handmade Xenons, all made to my precise specs and design preferences.  It would be hard to find a favorite as each had its nuance.  I will say, though, that face thickness probably has the greatest impact on feel.

Wow! Impressive. So what's your favorite feel metal out of all of these? What's the softest? Hardest?
