  1. I've been struggling with the driver lately and therefore itching for a new one. And last week I cracked the shaft on my Machspeed. So I wandered into the local Golf5 and proceeded to hit everything they would let me. The only things I hit worth a crap were a Tourstage ViQ SR flex (used), a R9 460 Max S flex (or maybe just R9 Max), and a Tobunda GT460 S flex. I ended up buying the Tobunda. I know it's the Golf5 house brand, but does any body know anything else about it? Here's the specs: Tobunda GT 460 9.5 degree Fukijura Rombax 501-D 54 gram Tq 4.6 Mid kick shaft I was hitting it around 245 on the Bridgestone Science Eye monitor. Best of the lot. I have been hitting around that range with my Adams Speedline, shorter with the Machspeed. Anyway, it's a nice traditional shape driver, sets up nice. Seems like a quality product. And it was cheap for a Japanese driver. Only 19800 Y ($235 right now). Obligatory blurred iPhone pics:
  2. Finally found one of these on the used rack at the local Golf5. After reading all of the stuff about them here, I had to take it in the cage and try it out. All I can say is "Holy shallow face Batman!" I thought my old V-Steels were shallow, but this thing is crazy shallow. I couldn't even get a good strike on the ball. I finally just gave it back to the salesman. I'll stick with my SQ2 fairway. If anybody is looking for one (15 degree in stiff), let me know. It was 22000 Y ($265). Might could work something out.
  3. Are there significant differences between US and Japanese spec Nike woods and hybrids? I know the Machspeed is rounded in Japan versus square in the States, but the VR looks the same to me. So do alot of the older clubs.
  4. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm not set on getting a new driver, just seems that it's all they had in the used bin this week. Also very interested in hybrids and fairway woods. I read the write up on the PRGR Egg and I think I'll look out for one of those as well as the Mactec hybrids. Are there specific models of the XXIO and ONOFF drivers I should look for? Not sure what last year's models were.
  5. I'm not really looking for a SD, just that I had seen one in the used bin and had hit it. What I was getting at is I'm not familiar with what is worth looking at here, so I don't know when I see something worth buying. With used prices ranging from $200 - 800 for used clubs the norm, I don't want to just buy a club to try it like I might in the States. So what should I be on the look out for?
  6. So I just moved to Japan and I have the good fortune of having a Golf5 about a block away (Golf5 is like a GolfGalaxy or other major golf retailer in the states). I've already started frequenting the used bin once or twice a week but I'm really not sure what I'm looking at or looking for. I'd love suggestions on what to keep an eye out for as far as drivers, hybrids, and fairways. So far I have hit/found but not bought: Tourstage X-Drive driver Titleist VG3 driver J-Spec TM R9 Superdeep All are quite expensive, so I can't exactly buy and try. Any help would be appreciated! BTW - about a 20 index, playing for about 18 months, taking lessons already, here for 3 years.
