  1. The dj has more spin and was designed for those who wanted more spin than the di. Works great in fairways. I think the di7 for you. For woods sigma 50 7.4 or cb fw80 in 7.4 as well. Like my fairways a touch softer than my drivers which Are approx. 7.7-7.9
  2. I had. Di6s in my driver that was just too high launch and spinny , maybe a di7s In the woods. I like the dj option as well. However after trying a cb80 7.7 in a driver yesterday I am considering the crazy route Dor the ryoma. Just don't know which one.
  3. I did not even know they came in satin. Where did you get em J they look nice?
  4. thank you! i thought i was seeing things with the closed face angle. they actually look very closed and when i keep em squared with the grip marker very closed. was hooking the ball for the first couple of shots. open it up, suits the eye more and performs stellarly. the 59 is a gem easy to use when opened up. i think these could possibly displace the DP protos. will see after today. think the characteristics of the x100 suit these perfectly, if only they felt better. shimada blacks also a good idea but i will have the nsprotos before i try the blacks as i have em in the protos. perfecto. would love for yamaha to come out with a fujita san proto wedge. exact specs, perfect replica. haha
  5. i agree my favorite wedges were from the 05/06 era, love the aggressive great white like grooves. the big makers could have an option for non-conf grooves. did Yamaha ever produce proto or tour wedges just like their inpres v tour irons?
  6. very good price on the combo bro. ive seen these heads in the flesh and they are very pristine, almost new if you ask me.
  7. just an update, guy was supposed to email me holograms and serial numbers, but he hasnt gotten back to me. he was very religious in sending me emails prior to buying the shaft. il take it as a sign that this is not the genuine article. oh well case closed. now if someone only stopped buying all the stingers:)
  8. well after stews recommendation i finally got lucky and got a set of marus. i remember seeing these awhile back but never paid much attention to them. having finally received them they look no different from the TS x wedges that came out since the marus with the only distinction his signature in green. Has a nice borealis like black ox finish that is already slowly wearing virtually revealing the raw finish on sole. came with the original specs of maruyama, 53* x100 d3ish sw and 59 x100 c6.5 sw. yes c6.5! i tell you though when dry swinging i wouldnt guess its anywhere below a d3. i think the heads are nice and heavy and with a heavy shaft like the x100 static weight is probably heavier than most wedges anyway. the overall head shape is nice and compact but what i find very odd is that it doesnt square up. at address all my wedges are square to open at address, the marus seem a bit closed when set up that i had to open up the face to get comfy. both the 53 and 59 are set up that way. i dont kow if this is his setup or the grips are wrong. everything is all original from the factory. you guys notice this? had a range session with it yesterday and wow, these are one of the spinniest wedges i have ever hit. they even shred the very hard range balls. its like little piranhas ready to chomp! fyi these are non conf. The x100 shafts were a bit of a surprise as well tip stiff and are supposed to reduce ball spin, imagine dg spinners high spin + non conf grooves would be utter overkill. the shafts felt like crap compared to my shimada blacks, sp blues they have almost the same characteristics as my shimada black except for the feel. they also launch a bit higher than the shimada black. i will most likely play this as is for now, will try to play a round today to test the wedges, il be using it with the rc db proto 52 bent 50. playing the x100 for now and if it doesnt work i have a set of proto 2s14 low launch wedge shafts that might do quite well in these heads. Stew you were right these are fantastic , glad i was lucky enough to pick some up.
  9. that is exactly what i was talking about. i myself love to tinker but finding the "right" harrison seems like a headache. that is what turned me off from taking the plunge. oh well if i found the right one at try #1 then id be happy. as to a reply to the softest driver, my epon 380cc by a mile. what makes it so soft are the royce chocolate covered marshmallows inside the head. really makes a difference:)
  10. I have many times. I know my ss but I have had many friends that Got one based on their specs but still did nit work out. Many factors such as inside shaft bore and approximate angular Velocity etc etc Too much unknows plus o one here locally does fitting for that
  11. How is the Harrison shotmaker treating you? Been wanting to try those but don't know what flex would suit me
  12. AMEN to that! that is what i figured. i remembered our talk back about not tipping shafts and that tipping changes the characteristics by a lot and would ruin the original design of the shaft. thanks again gary!
  13. Kasco is on the chopping block. Do you think tipping 1 inch is excessive For. 3w? 1 inch tipping on a 7.7sx could bring Flex to an x. Maybe stiffer. I like my fw shafts an s at mist, sx would be smack on z borderline Or I can get a f7m2 or di7s, those are half the price.
  14. Ok guys I just found outbthatthe shaft is tipped 1inch How would this affect playability? I know shafts can be tipped A bit but surely 1 inch seems a bit excessive don't ya think? Let me know I don't want my first crazy driver shaft to be a bad experience. Thanks
  15. a lot of things can happen in 3 weeks, 3 weeks seems like an eternity to anyone whos used to tinkering with their clubs, i have succumbed at last! discovered a lot of things about my swing and that im better with certain kinds of gear than others. first of all all the hybrids are gone, been picked off, donated and sold to others who will find better use of it than me. in the very sense of the word a hybrid term here has been generalized, combining the advantages of an iron with the more forgiving nature of a wood. it is a different animal altogether , while they work for most they certainly do not work for me. In the past months i have owned the onoff ute, yamaha, trc RC, epon 902 adams etc etc, none of them lasted a month in my bag, thinking it was me, i went on a tireless search for the perfect ute, and finally i found it. The DRIVING IRON!!! i find that i am awkward, clumsy when i pull the hybrid out of the bag. so i just left it out of the bag and started using my trusty epon 901 22 bent 21 with steel! wow awesome, better than any ute i have tried works for me , i can hit it like all my irons and its freakin long! better yet its my go to club. recently reshafted with a shimada tour lite s. like dragons fire been breathed into the club, totally different beast, very user friendly and strong aggressive trajectory. driver-4w-22!! 22* go to club, maestro maestro! made sense to get an 18* which is exactly what i did, ordered the srixon 18 z uti and will shaft it with a crazy black ute, for now i have a 901 19* bent to 18* shafted with my new TOUR ad DI-85S. i think this will be better than the heavy pole-like feel of my di-95s, that felt like a px 7.5 steel seriously. no flex no rebound no game! while im at it i will also do a head to head test between the new kid (18 srix 18 pimpin the new crazy black ute) vs the veterano 901 w tour proven DI hybrid shaft. real excited. not wanting to be left out of the party senor PRGR REP will join the and contribute his much anticipated skills . stay tuned
  16. dale this one for you? what shaft you considering?
  17. thanks for clearing that up T! i think they made a good move when they renamed the line ups. before i was so confused with all their offerings, was like looking for an expensive needle in the haystack:) hope this one works out
  18. i agree, the 502 was soft but it got there by having the alpha gel insert, an added tech to the mix the 302 is one piece. hitting them on the screws is a marvelous feeling. bliss. then again most jdm irons with the right shaft when hit on the sweetspot feels soft:)
  19. yup im considering one based on your recommendation. its going in the ryoma! no go on the kasco that dogs been bad and hogging space in my bag.
  20. another vote for the 502s , another very soft one were the shinagawa raw Cbs i had back in 07.
  21. anyone has one let me know thanks
  22. CRAZY BLACK NEW CB-80 80 TON CARBON 7.7 SX guys can anyone tel me the playing characteristics of this shaft? it says NEW CB80 on shaft. the ones in the Proshop say NOIR so im assuming this is an older model. friend offering it to me and am considering pulling the trigger if it suits my style. thanks and would appreciate the info. thinking of either putting this in my spare head or upcoming ryoma 3w
  23. It's the 3 iron that is part of the egg iron set. But the egg irons are utility irons so Imho they Are considered utes.
