New swing has borked my chipping!
Ah-ha! Bingo! Thanks for the description Richmond. What you describe as good chips, those are not what I am used to hitting. My chips before swing changes would drop and roll maybe an inch. Very difficult to play. The chip and roll you describe is more of what I thought my chips should be like... in other words, I have been hitting chips wrong for some time. @Blader-X Yea, I have yet to integrate a "chip and run" into my repertoire. I don't require roll really, I just want a repeatable chip that I can use 'round the greens. Charlatan

New swing has borked my chipping!
Thanks for the replies guys... I tried an open stance with the ball at the front foot and I seemed to lift the ball okay. I am going to take some of your tips to the practice green to see how things go. I usually visualize a scoop, which is likely part of my problem. I also believe, as mentioned above, that my right arm is to blame a bit as well. Just to gauge how my pitch should look, with a 60 degree, should I be expecting to get no more than say 50 yards with a full swing? I mean, I am kind of used to a "drop and stop" loft, very very high and short. Should a 10 yard pitch look and behave the same? Do you guys that have 60 dg wedges try to aim at the pin, or should it roll a ways? Mine traditionally behaved in a fashion that made me aim for the pin, or just in front (if it's a flat green). Thanks again

Driver head 390cc or smaller
I too am interested in "smaller" driver heads. I doubt I am going to stumble on a E310 anytime soon :/ Char

New swing has borked my chipping!
Thanks to Brett and everyone here, I have adopted a new swing successfully (for the most part) and my game is improving each time out. I scored my best score EVER yesterday. My new swing has me hitting them straight and at distances I wasn't getting before, but unless I take a full swing with the 60 degree, I hit it really thin. My chipping has gone to hell. I guess my question is, how does one setup differently for a chip than a normal iron shot? Should it be all arms and torso in the swing? Does the weight still shift to the front leg on a half swing? Help!!! Charlatan

Brett's teaching
I can also attest, first hand, to Brett's help. Via thread posts only, he has really fixed my swing and I have become a much more consistent striker. Thanks again Brett! Mike

Time to vent
BINGO! Found this. Works perfectly, and no club chatter to boot. I will be putting the tourstage bag on sale soon, so keep an eye out if you'd like it. Charlatan

So gocchin, What size bag is that, 9.5"? Did you take out the sections so that it is one big hole? I am going to see if I can find the tubes... thanks for the suggestion. I see you guys have a Mizuno bag that is 11"! Nice n big. M

Thanks blader Yea, I think with a full set I am going to need a 10". The tour bags are looking more like what I might need to go with. I know they don't have stands, but I am used to (and partial to) a single strap, they seem to offer more room in general, and I need the exercise anyway :) I try to keep only two clubs per slot, but that gets hard with all those pitching wedges. My driver shaft gets banged up too, as I have to keep the putter somewhere. M

@spoon, Yea, I used to have one a long time ago and it was nice. Same thing with me though... won't use one. @xxio I thought that Kabuki system was to try and eliminate bag chatter by resting the heads further apart. Does it eliminate the grip problems as well? Also, I wonder if any of their tour/cart bags have them. I've seen some 10" bags out there that might be easier for club organization.

Oh, I had a callaway bag before this one, and the ring tore through the loop. Target special at its best. I see one here on the site that has 14 dividers, a Nike bag. That sounds like it may help quite a bit, but for appearances, I'd rather have another brand :). ComoCome / Miura need 14 divider bags...

Time to vent
As I anxiously await my new Miura 5003's which are being built, I am using my old irons to practice on the range. I recently purchased a Tourstage 9" bag online, and have been using it to house my clubs... and it really has me frustrated. Every time I put irons back, or take an iron out, 3 others come out with it. Grips get stuck, irons stick out as they try to settle and usually I get to the point where I want to slam the darn thing in there. I know you know what I am talking about. Now this certainly is not a Tourstage issue. Seriously, how hard is it to make a bag that EASILY fits a driver, putter and 9 irons. I don't even have all my clubs together yet, and here I am contemplating other alternatives. I know they make 9.5" bags, but I am not sure that's going to eliminate the problem. Plus, I walk almost all courses, and although I am not completely against hauling a staff bag around, I thought a stand bag should be able to hold what I have. What to do...? Thx Mike

Gold's Factory Update 06/2008
Oh bloody hell, this is the last thing I needed to see. I am sooooo tempted to order one, but I need a gap hybrid and a new driver :/ All of those beauties in your possession, and if so might some of them show up in the For Sale forum? Personally, I think the 3rd pic is my favorite.. nice and simple.

Geotech GT 455 Black Inital Impressions
Is this the exact same head that can be seen in the pro shop? I ask only because the face on the pro shop one looks silver, but it might have been the lighting. Second, how does a black face hold up over time? Is it just a layer of paint that is likely to chip off? Thx Char

New irons and how to protect them-
Ooohh, I never thought of polishing them with my dremel... that is an awesome idea! What polish do you use? I am having another really POS bag of irons bent to my spec (length is good already) so I may consider using them at least at the start to get the kinks out of the swing. Once I get through the rough parts of the new swing, I am going to melt when I hit the Miuras. I do intend to play them constantly... I don't mind the used look. It's just gonna be hard that first few times. They look sooo purdy new. char
