  1. I'd hope that TM does sell the aftermarket shafts also other shafts like the callaway "imix". IMO it wouldn't make sense for me to buy an entirely new driver just to get the TP shaft or the "upgraded shaft" ie the kai'li or the speeder for that FCT function. If I were to p/u the JDM R9 MAX, will the head be interchangeable w/the USDM shafts? I assume that the extra adjustments on the JDM version come from the shaft tip as it would have the same settings w/a greater loft or lie adjustment. I say this because its the shaft's tip that makes the FCT not the head. (Unless TM grooves the slots different on all the models of the shafts, I assume they will be universal) Am I wrong to assume this ?
  2. I've looked on the TM us site and noticed that the head size also is different for all 3 lofts. 10.5 = 422cc 9.5 = 420cc 8.5 = 418cc Not that I can tell the difference, but what does this change in loft and size do?
  3. I agree. I have also played many JDM drivers, and I go back to Tourstage and Epon. re: FW SF 308 is alittle larger. T told me its like hitting another mini driver. Fourteen woods are fav'ed because of their lie angle. R9 and all the other adjustable lie and face angle woods will be coming out soon.
  4. Correct T, USDM is 399 for the reg and the TP is 499. Only difference is the shaft. JDM stuff will always cost more. I assume Taylormade will offer shaft upgrades as well; since you can already remove the complete shaft on the R9, all you need is the shaft like the imix. Question is... will taylormade sell those shafts off the rack and when? We got um in this past week too, I've been hitting the R9 since tuesday. I like the 2* open face you can do plus put all the weight on the toe for a fade CG. Stock shaft does feel kinda week like all the REAX shafts, but I can still see good yardage.(more carry than the superquad tp) Around the same distance as my tour burner tp. I hope TM releases the shafts.... soon...
  5. They did not come w/the carbon ferrules from epon, I don't know why... anycase, I'm not disappointed.
  6. Hey Mr D, might want to check out the comparo pics between the 301 and the AF tour I posted on the other thread... not much difference in size if you ask me. The 301 has more meat on the bottom of the back/bottom to help the ball get up and thicker sole. One of the best iron designs ever if you ask me. The AF tour is shockingly forgiving for me so far.... It has been hard for me to tell the difference besides workability and look. I've played Vega stuff and never really a fan as I've prefered Miura over Vega and Epon over Miura... And out of "kyeoi" (I think thats how its spelt) I've only liked the raw wedges and the tour seida's spin. I believe GF uses vega forges and also yururi. But I have never hit a GF blade or CB.
  7. Comparing the AF 301 to the AF Tour: These are the three irons I hit the most. Short Par 4s here in hawaii, so I generally have a 150 or less on my second shot and the pw gets the most use. PW PW compare: tour on the left 7 iron front 7 iron compare: tour on the left So far I can only say that toed shot are very forgiving and don't feel like toed shots at all. My toe shots are just a tad off the sweet spot and on the 301 it is felt coming up the shaft and it kinda feels like a dull thawak. w/the AF Tour the toe miss is very forgiving as the ball will come back in a couple yards w/the same ball flight. (very nice smooth draw) Heel shots are felt more than the AF 301 but go pretty much the same distance w/minimal loss or gain. Very workable so far for me. I will be comparing these tours to the 695 MB in the next 2 weeks, and a full review to come, after I get another 7 rounds in.
  8. Custom finish, ask any of the tsg staff when ordering... I'm sure they can assist you w/any finish you wanted. I orginally wanted the same finish as the Miura MB5003 black. Chris said they would fade easily. I went w/satin and I think it was the right decision.
  9. Hey James-I hook also on bad shots around 105-108. I've personally tested all the xdrives of 09 and of 08, save the the 430p. 445 is a wonderful driver w/the stock shaft. It will go low and roll aton. IMO a tad less forgiving than the 901 and puts alittle more ball spin than the 901 but only around 200rpm. 901w/stock shaft> I've sold 2 of my 3 901s to guys that have attested to its explosive feel and low long straight shots that amazingly do not go left.(though they have complained that the stock shaft does feel a bit weak) For me the head shape at address is what counts. 901 shape really helps me as I fight the hook. Superior Confidence over the 701 and the 701G and GR. My results were not as favorable for my swing w/the 701G. I would hit it 20-30 yards further w/the G but 2/5 shots were uncontrollable hooks that ended up 10-20 yards left of actual aiming point. I have mine shafted w/rombax 901 7x07. It helps me w/the dispersion and is hefty enough to control that hook to a nice mid boring shot that rolls a good 20 yards avg. I've never played the VIQ drivers so I cannot compare.
  10. Thanks T, its all in the camera as don't know the a single about photography. I think is this guy has some sort of motion stability and it takes good pictures even if the target is in motion. (I'm pretty sure there is better technology out there now but mine is old) 4 year old Cannon SD700 only 6 mpix but does me just fine, friends told me to buy cannons cuz many prefer the cannon's lenses, great quality and cheap. I'm not big into photos so I was lucky to find a camera that fit me... I bought the SD700 used for 50 bux from my friend who was going to ebay it. I hope it never breaks. Before this camera all my pictures were blurry. (I have a hard time holding still my hands)
  11. Thought I'd share... pics are of the pw, 7, 5. Got um in R300, yeah went back to my original shaft I started golf with. I like it the most specially in blades. Back Sole Address Thanks Chris for the recommendation of satin over my original choice. Thanks Jacque squaring away my order issues. Much mahalo to T for handling my order w/my customization specs. Extremely fast delivery. I ordered a pair of shoes from shoes.com on the same day and these irons arrived first.... lol
  12. All or most of the Cleveland pros are playing Srixon ball now. Flesh Sing Weekely Rollins.... Could this be related to Srixon buying Cleveland J?
  13. Hi James, I've hit both, and the 445 is alittle longer, lower and more workable. The GR is much higher and more forgiving but not as far. But both are very long, and both feel solid at impact w/a wonderful sound. TS's xdrives are all top quality imo.
  14. Finally found the guy's name: Dan Boever won the 2008 remax senior division over Mike Gorton. Dan Boever has a 120+mph ss and uses GD's MD 8 shaft mated w/cobra speed head, his winning drive was 365 and longest drive was over 400. Also there were some about 3 others using the GD MD8 series and the quattro tech series.
  15. Placed the shaft in myself. And yep, the rombax is smooth and keeps me going straight as distance is not priority for me.
  16. I took my TS 901 shafted w/Rombax 7x07s and my TM TP tour burner w/matrix xcon5 to compare club head speed on the speedline challange at the local roger dunn. The Adams guy was very confident that their speedline driver would produce more speed for me, and he was right. I did try to swing the same on every shot. My 901 w/rombax 7x07 avg for 5 shots are as follows ClubHead speed: 106mph Spin: 2300rpm Ballspeed: 155.87 launch:13.7* Total yrdage: 272 avg (avg 1 yard offline draw) TP Tour burner w/stock matrix xcon5 stiff (I hit this guy second so the CH speed is after the warmup w/the 901. Plus its about 18 grams lighter than my rombax so its easier to swing faster.) Problem is even w/the *2 open face I think the shaft is kinda light and about 1 out of 5 drives I snap it hard and it really hooks. Clubhead speed: 109mph Spin 2400rpm Ballspeed 159.1 launch:13.9* Total yrdage: 289 avg (avg 15 yrd offline draw) Adams does work I guess: right after I swung my two clubs I grabbed the 9.5* stiff and achived 114 on the first swing. (I dunno maybe it was the shaft, it felt kinda blue prolaunchish w/a little give kinda like an aldila NV regular flex) But wow the clubhead speed:avg 6 shots stiff flex Clubhead speed: 113mph Spin 2750rpm Ballspeed 166.23 launch:11.3* Total yrdage: 285 avg (avg 25 yrd offline draw) Still I couldn't hit it straight, plenty kick. Xstiff kinda worked but CHspeed wasn't as good as stiff or Regular thats right regular. I tried the R flex and got around same just about 2mph faster, and it felt a little better to be honest. I actually hit the R flex the furthest out of all my drives. I got 314 off of a 116 swing w/perfect launch of 13.6* and 1970rpm w/reg flex. Adams guy was dumbfounded lol. FYI- I was fitted for a Xstiff flex, but I hit the Regular flex the most consistently and the furthest. If were to buy one it would be the Rflex. Guy in front of me was a 22 and he hit 80 mph w/the 09 burner rflex. he went to the adams speedline and avged 6 mph over his 78mph avg w/the burner and got one up to 89mph the guy immediately bought one. Now bottom line- I guess if you are looking for every edge on yrdage, adams may be on to something. I've tested it and it works for me. But I am going to stick w/my 901 as it feels just as good as it looks, mind you it looks 100x better than anything out there, and produces the fade for me. Plus theres always that comfort knowing I have a JDM high quality product in my hands that if swung right I can count on it's results!! Anycase thought I'd share my findings w/you all.
  17. Ok I think that it works. Thanks Jack!! I've modified your drill at the driving range by placing the tee 1 inch from my impact location up and 2 inches to in front the ball. So if the clubhead goes from my normal draw shot in to out, I'll definitely whack the tee. I also started to open the face about 3-5 degrees more at address so when I come into the ball its more of a wiping motion. Swing changes-I tend to take the club back a tad more inside> I haven't changed this. But what I did change is the part where I impact the ball. I usually hit the ball on the inside quarter of the back. If I focus on not hitting that tee, if forces me to hit directly behind the ball. This in turn pulls my follow-through from out to in>inducing more "wiping" for that extra side spin. Successful fade!! I'm still working on this but I'll get a vid up on this swing compared to the normal draw.
  18. Ok here are my two LB exercises. Mainly I only do the second exercise the most, as the first exercise only allows distance control. hope this helps Tim http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yC31RyJit5o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipbZz03m-NA Forgive the barefeet, we observe the japanese custom and don't wear footwear in our home.
  19. Indeed, I've been on the LM w/EV6 stiff in the 701G and EV7 stiff in 901 both 9.5*. Both kicked harder than the MD 7, and indeed really shines at higher ss. Both EV6 and EV7 on Xdrives drivers provided me w/low RPM and awesome kick in the impact area. I had a harder time hitting the 701g than the 901(typical over top hook on misses) 701G w/EV 6 provided so much kick that I had trouble keeping it straight. 20+yrd draw on my normal 5 yard draw shot. Ball flight was med high w/tons of roll. 701g w/the EV6 is the longest driver I've ever hit period, I think its a perfect match for distance seekers who don't have worry about control. I have not hit the Rombax F, nor the Diamana so I can't compare to it. AVG spin for the EV6 w/701G was about 1890 at 108SS provided me w/avg 30+ yards of roll (on course) EV7 w/901 was even lower. I avged around 1440 rpm on 5 shots. So I had to tee it up alittle more to get the launch angle up.
  20. I'll post up a vid tomorrow on the exercise I do on LB. Hopefully I can get a good front view of my swing for you guys, all my attempts on course video recording have failed as it has been way too busy for me to stop and tack pics... and I don't like to be the guy to slow up play. I figure I'll just take the vid here at home, hopefully the lighting is good.
  21. For some reason its also easier for me to achive low spin rates w/xdrive heads. Last years black 445 and this years Xdrives have produced 1300-1600 rpm for me w/stock shafts. I can't achieve that spin rate w/my tour burner tp and Epon heads as easily.
  22. So I have this guy shafted w/a used ngs FW65 stiff. Confidence: (at address) .5* open face on the 5 wood, and it helps my hook. I also placed the weight setup for a fade and it aids the combating of the hook. Feel: pretty damed solid! I've seen my average 5 wood distances 240carry(I've been using the yamaha impres x iff 5 wood 17*) avg from the tee and a good 220 off the deck. Those sweet spot shots feel every bit as good as the prgr tour hit, and fourteen SF206. Forgiveness: well to be honest it feels just like my yamaha impres x iff 17*. I can work this guys traj very well. Toe shots go way right then come slamming back in pretty well. Heel shots are kinda felt up the shaft and significant distance loss on those. (but they go straight) Playablity: Rough shots are easier to hit than my yamaha tour x. Feels way way easier to hit than todays tour burner fws and burner fws from the tee. Tight lies are very easy to work. Overall, a cheap solid purchase for a club that I use 70% of the time off the tee. This experience w/GT has opened my eyes to their very afforable products. I will most likely p/u the matching the 3 wood and look at GT's black driver.
