The COG and perimeter weighting are progressive on this set. The 3 iron has the lowest COG and most perimeter weighting. The PW has the highest COG and least perimeter weighting. We were able to achieve this by progressivly varying the thickness of the face and in relation how much weight we had to put in the perimeter. The face of the 3 iron is the thinnest, the face of the PW is the thickest and they vary progressivly throughout the set. This allows us to design the long irons to be as forgiving as possible and the short irons to be more accurate and workable. It is also worth noteing that this set looks exactly like a blade at address. It is the same size and profile as our Tour Blade which is very simular to an MP33 or 690MB. The first thing Waldo wanted was to finally play the right shaft and specs. He has a 120+ mph driver swingspeed and has been fit into X100, 1/2" long 2* upright numerous times. Yet he never bothered to change from the weak stiff flex Nike Speed Steel that came in his Pro Combos. He never changed any of the specs he just played them standard. So we started with X100 shafts 1/2" long and 2* upright from Nike Pro Combo specs. For shape he wanted a simular toe shape to the Pro Combos but with a more pronounced sharp toe. The sole grind has a little bit of camber and a killed leading edge like the Titleist 600 series but with less bounce. The glare on the polished chrome in the pics makes the killed leading edge hard to see in the pic. The grind is simular to his Nikes but with the killed leading edge which will help prevent the clubs from bouncing off the ground a little bit which is the only thing he didnt like about the grind on his Nikes. They will be battle tested this weekend so we will soon see!

3-PW Miura Forged TM Lehman Grind 300 irons w/ 6.5 Project X shaft. These irons were used by a Major Winner from the Scottsdale area and are 100% confirmed the real deal. I will confirm to the winner the old owners name. They are in great shape except for a few dings from hitting off rocks in tourneys. The faces show a little wear but other than the few dings they look great. I will sell them for $1000 shipped as is. :D They look even better in person and they play even better than that. 8) This set was ground by our master grinder in our shop just like our wedges and all the other custom irons. The finish was done by our plater, the same guy who does the Brushed Satin, Brushed Nickel and Copper finishes.

This is the first of 3 sets of custom irons that we will be introducing in the next month. :) The Scratch Tour CB is a small, compact forged cavity back with minimal offset and a thin topline. They are designed with an innovative progressive face thickness technology that allows us to locate the COG in the proper place on each iron in the set. The faces in the long irons is thinner allowing for more perimeter and sole weighting for a lower COG and more playability. The faces in the short irons and PW are thicker allowing us to place more mass behind the ball with a higher COG for increased accuracy, feel and workability. The raw heads are forged right next to our wedges at Ishihara Japan out of the same soft 1018 carbon steel that provides that soft, sweet feel that all of our customers rave about. Just like our custom wedges we take each very heavy raw head and hand grind and polish them one at a time to exact weight, grind and shape. We take no shortcuts at all in building our clubs. Each one is bulit from scratch to insure that everything comes out to your specs. Just like our custom wedges these custom irons are being offered with just about any specs. You choose any taper tip shaft, any grip, the lengths, lofts and lies, swingweights, any of our 7 finishes, stampings and paintfill color. Someone should jump on this putter QUICKLY. It is the best Gauge Design putter that I have ever laid eyes on. The work is just beautifull and it is as rare as they come. A true collectors piece.

I play most of my golf on very hard seaside greens and I have no problem holding them with the Hogans. I have had them in the bag for a little while now and I love them as much as ever.

The unused blades and CBs are going to turn into demo clubs for TSG members. :)

Bunker, We will be offering Left Handed Blades as a special order only starting in 2 weeks. We are still working on the LH wedges and hope to release them within the next year.

Keep in mind that you need to add 10% of the headweight to move the COG at all. For that putter that would be 33 grams. So I wouldnt worry about it changing the playability.

Great review! The Maru is definetly demanding but IMO it is also one of the most rewarding drivers out there if you have the game for it.

We will be offering 3-PW sets as well as 2-PW sets. We will be offering custom mixed sets of Tour Blades and Tour CBs for a $300 upcharge starting in about 4-6 weeks. We will actually be using 2 full sets of heads for these combo sets. That will give us the ability to make the set makeup however the customer wants. It will leave us with alot of useless heads laying around but it is simply the only way for us to be able to offer combo sets with a custom configuration. Ari - you should finish those "useless" heads and offer them as demos. BTW - LOVE the looks of the classic blade. :) The Classic Blade is as pure as it gets. I wish I had a better swing so I could play them. :lol: That is exactly what I plan on doing. We are going to be selling one prototype combo set out of our first run of irons so I can send the other heads around to TSG members as demos. In the next couple weeks I am going to post a sign up thread for the demos.

Where did you get the Hogan Hybrid for $75? The best I could do was $95 new retail. As for the Hogan Hybrid, i've played the original Rescue, the Rescue Mid, and the original FliHi, and this blows them all away.
