Newbie here too from the Philippines. Golf is one of the favored sport here. I grew up practically a few meters away from a golf course and have been desiring to learn the sport ever since. Now that I finally took lessons, I believe I can upgrade now to a better set. I'm using a Top-Flite XL set which is a beginner's set and I'm planning to replace them. Problem is, most of the clubs sold here are American brands save for Mizuno.
This weekend, I chanced upon a friend who works as a clubfitter in one of the golf clubs in Dubai. He was raving about Japanese made/branded clubs and how good they are. He criticized my Top-Flite clubs as they are made in China and the shafts are inaccurate. He told me no matter good my swing will be, those clubs will still produce bad shots. Thus my plan to shift to Japanese clubs. Problem is, most of the used clubs sold here are American brands. I've seen Maruman and Mizuno clubs being sold at our local ebay site and at sulit.com.ph but they are too old a version.
Just as a reference, what type of used Mizuno clubs would be good for a beginner like me? Affordability is a big factor. I have a slow swing by the way. Next, how far old should I consider in a used club? 3,4 years?
Thanks!
