  1. Not to mention higher lofted heads result in more spin and sometimes lower ball speeds/smash factor. Lower loft + mid shaft for me too!
  2. Thanks Stew. The Ryoma really seems to be a love it or hate it driver. People are either enamored with it or say it's a hook machine. IDK. I think a lot of the technology in that driver is very unique and intriguing but the extremely high gravity angle concerns me because when I really get after it my miss is a low hook. Surprised the 151 was high spin for you. I would like some forgiveness but don't want excess spin especially here in Illinois with all the wind. So maybe from the Epon line, a 102 is the way to go, give up some forgiveness for lower spin? The KPX is kind of looking like a definite player as well.

    Is the face square?
  4. I have been looking at JDM drivers lately and have been in contact with a few of you regarding some used ones. I am as confused as ever though by some responses I have gotten. I have an R11S with a Phenom 70 Tour X and have been driving the best of my life with it. Super accurate, always in fairway, but giving up distance with the shaft being just a bit much and boardy for me. I am hitting most of my drives 270-280 (we dont have very elevated tee boxes at my home course). I notice that my drives never seem to go as far as most people or myself think they will when struck. People ooh and ahhh over my drives when I hit a good one...only to find when I get to my ball it isn't really that astounding. I used to be a high spin player but my swing has changed and now my trajectory may be a tick low and maybe spin as well. I am a fit 31, swing at about 110-112 when I am getting after it (I usually am) and my miss is usually a mid-low hook. I am looking at Epon 151, Kamui KPX, Egg 7, and Ryoma V Spec driver heads. I want a point and shoot type driver and don't need to work the ball much at courses I play. Kind of curious to gain your opinions and see what you think since I am pretty new to JDM stuff and while I have read about every product info page on Tour Spec, it doesn't always tell the whole story. Obviously I can't just go down the street and test drive these, nor do I want to spend months and tons of money trying different ones if I can make an educated decision before hand. If I left anything out let me know. Thanks!
  5. Can you characterize play with the yammie? Don't know much about them and info hard to come by
  6. Sonartecs?
  7. But which Yammy? Lol. I used to have a Yamaha 4 wheeler.
  8. This has been on my list to try. Wonder what shaft I'd want in it....? Lot of money just to see if I even like it. :( But it would go great with my other PRGR gear...
  9. My general problem is that even though I may be a double digit handicapper, my issues with my game don't mirror the normal problems that most mid to high handicappers have with their games. I don't need any help launching the ball in the air, I don't need any help with a higher ball flight, and I don't need a closed clubface to help me square it at impact. etc. I am a strong guy and have a high swing speed and don't have any problem with getting the ball in the air. What I normally need in a driver is some side to side and top to bottom forgiveness and a face that isn't too draw biased. In my past experience what I have found in clubs geared to people with my handicap is that they address a lot of problems that I don't have. I am all for trying a Ryoma driver, but if it's one of these clubs that someone is recommending me because of my handicap instead of what I actually need based on my physique and the way I swing a golf club, then I don't need one. From the reading I have been doing it, the Econ 151 and 102, as well as the ryoma D1 seem to be the clubs that fit me the best on paper.
  10. Haha just seeing if you're paying attention
  11. I have completely converted to JDM equipment save for my driver, with which I have been driving the best of my life with this setup so I have held off on changing. The most consistently in the fairway and consistent good length of anything I have ever played. In the past 3 years I went from an old TM to a G10 to a G15 to a 910D2 now to the R11S. Current setup: R11S with RIP Phenom 70 Tour X playing at 45". SS 108-109 and 112-114 when I step on it. Generally hit the ball high but the setup I have now is about right height and good ball flight. Don't want to go longer than 45" and no shorter than 44.5". Not going to spend over $1000 for the setup and less expensive is better. We all know well and good there isn't that much better about the newer drivers than older. I would like to maybe find something a couple years old that is a very good proven driver that would fit me well, that way if it doesn't work I don't take a huge loss on it. Thoughts?

    Thanks.
  13. I think it is more because of the C taper in the game improvement head that had people saying they are unusual. I still consider the PP a players cavity back though.
  14. Looking for $1200
