How involved does shimming a driver get - do you need to drill it to get it open ? How many degrees do you have to mess with ?

Forging - I need more Info. on Miura vs. Endo vs...........
If a certaing grade of steel is forged by each forging house - using the same metal - what makes one better than the other. Is it the overlay ? Chrome/ Nickel/ Copper/ Mix ? Maybe I do not understand the process fully. Especially why Miura is the best. If I have copper unerlays done on my irons will I notice a difference in feell ?

Top 3 Tips that I got out of this Forum
Mike, The mid has a 2 inch insertion vs. 1 1/4 inch on my TP, so I would not tip it. My theory was that according to Aldila, for the NV to play to flex in needs to be inserted 1.75". I tipped mine 3/4 of an inch to play a tad stiffer.

AKFLY replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearIf you have a swing weight scale or if you can borrow one that would be great - you will loose like one swing point - so if you do not have a scale - do not go throwing on a ton of lead tape - also you can cut the shaft, then bring them to your local guru and tell him you want them swingweighted to a D4 or whatever - and he should be able to do the works for a small fee using lead powder and corks down the shaft. Lastly - keep in mind you are also changing the flex of the shaft - slightly - you can read novels on this crap = but essentially - weaker for Rifle and stiffer for Dynamic Gold. Have fun with it - you could always re-shaft with PX's :D I am off to bed.

AKFLY replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearCopper pipe cutter works also - keep in mind that the swing weight will come down. Saw should work - if it is your first time you may want to practice on a piece of scrap shaft or copper pipe.

Top 3 Tips that I got out of this Forum
Hey - no problem AL. I would just like to hear what evreyone has learned. I am a student of club building and this site has been very helpful - and most evreyone will go out of their way to respond to your questions - no matter how trivial they may be.

Top 3 Tips that I got out of this Forum
1- How to build a graphite shaft extractor for like $20.00 2-Using wooden dowels in your steel shaft for dampening. 3-How to install tight ferrules - soak in hot water than use eposy as a lube. Not that all the advise is great but these are my top three. Thank You !

AKFLY replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearCalm and warm for me - thanks. Let's see Friday is suppose to be like 46*.- Parry's bag
Don't forget though, Parry was a Hogan staffer before the merger, not Callaway. Really , I always thought that he was a Maxfli man . Hmm , guess I was wrong . Or it was a very long tome ago . rbl690 , have you heard from swunk lately . Have not seen him around in so long it's not funny . The last time he contended on the PGA tour was like the 95 Masters. I also, thought he was a Maxfli guy. Anyway I would like to see him and Woosman go at it on Shells Wonderful World of Golf.- And the fun begins ...
Thanks for the tip - hope I win it ! Ahhhh which way did he go 8O But wait $950 for an XD head and $300 for a fuji shaft is pretty close to the price.- Parry's bag
Very sweet thanks .... no workout tips on his site :D We all know how he got his popeye forearms don't we ;allcoh ;shocked From all that beer downunder . Forearms --- you mean gut.  Funny stuff, it was a hell of a shot!!! ian You have to love the underdog :D- Driver shaft lenghth. short? long? accuracy? distance?
please remember that the bore depth of the 983 is 3.5" as per 1 1/4" for normal bore depths, this makes the shaft specs change, plus the 983 is designed to reduce spin, ie if you hit it from the top of the face it will reduce spin due to gear effict. depending on your true clubhead speed depends on shaft/lunch angle etc, come and see me in Irelands I use the swing dynamics BFM to fit euro tour players, remamber the shorter the shaft the easier the club is to hit. regards robert I thought the K increased spin and the E decreased? Also doesn't the reverse gear effect increase spin as well...? I have never really read into it... with a 983 if you want the shaft to play to its specs just get out builder to only insert it 1.25" Shaft insertion varies by manufacturer - Aldi8la for exmaple calls for 1.75" on the NV to play to flex.- General BS Thread

AKFLY replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearIt's a fuji 757 stiff. One of the other problems was the grip felt really small. I hit some of the ugliest low hooks I've ever seen, I was waiting for a guy to pop up from behind a blind and shoot one of the ducks I was serving up. I hit some great long irons but my 9 and PW were suffering. I'm gonna get the swing weights checked cuz I swear something is off somewhere. I just don't know any good guys to take them to here in Vegas. My usual shop closed down a few weeks ago and now I'm stranded. ;rofl Have not heard it put that way before . Since I have never been to Vegas before I can't help you , other that to tell youto look in the phone book and wish you luck my friend . Mike 14 days :D- General BS Thread
AKFLY replied to AKFLY's post in a topic in Out of Bounds: Lifestyle, Luxury, Autos, Hobbies, High Tech GearWhen is GM going to step up - GM needs an LS7 Corvette of the 2000's 8O NO what GM needs to do is do a retro like ford has . Bring back the big bad 427 all aluminum engine in , lets say a split window coupe . Add a rock crusher 4 or 5 speed tranny ( only need the clutch when starting and stopping ) and nothing made in NA would even come close to touching it . :!: :!: I thought the LS7 was the fastest produced vette at 500 h.p. What was the blue white stripped 60's series GT Vette ? - that would be cool - flared out 67 coupe - or a split window combo - Mike you and I should join the GM test team. That would be a dream come true AK . I would even consider giving up golf for something like that . I can't remember the designation for the engine off hand , but a all aluminum 427 would be the about the fastest non - tuned engine there is . Even the Vipers engine's are tuned just a bit to give it that little extra . I can remember one of those engine's in a Vette that was tuned and put out close to 600+ horsepower . I try and get the designation form a source other than my brother and let you know what it is . Also did you know that in the late 60's early 70's GM made a engine that was 596 cubic inches . It was a very special order and not many people knew about it or could afford it. 596 - that was new to me. What about the Yenko racing motor 's :D - Parry's bag
