  1. Hi guys, I haven't ever compared these two side by side, but a friend was looking at both and wanted to know what the experts think! I'd normally say go with the newer club, but he was really hooked on the 404, whereas he hasn't hit the ZR-600.

I think the ZR-600 is pretty forgiving in the mid and long irons, but I haven't hit an I-404 for quite awhile. I remember them being very solid, but I don't remember the long irons being punishing or super forgiving... any advice?

One of the best iron players on the planet still uses the 404's (Tim Clark). They do have a smaller head then the ZR600 different weighting and do not have the heal/toe cuts to help cut through the turf and not dig. SO the ZR600 will be more forgiving, but the 404 is a very solid iron.

  2. I just got a 8072 stiff and I dont know if I want to cut it down to 44" or play it at 45"? What do you guys thing? I currently play a rombax 6W06 x-flex in a Srixon 505. I am going to put the axiv in a ZR600. Should I leave as is or cut down to make it stiffer and possibly tip?

  3. What's your current launch angle and spin rate?

Do not know my current specs, cause I havent been on a launch monitor in a while. But I have always generated alot of RPM's with my driver and currently have a 505 driver at 9.5. I play arround with lots of shafts but always find that the 757 speeder fits the best.

  4. Had lots of Pro's love this club, not only for its small pear like shape but more so because of the lower flight with less spin it gave. The ball speed numbers were higher than anything else at the testing range in Orlando florida. Lots of EPGA and Young Florida sticks clock'd in their longest drives with our TSG demo.

    It was a standard 10.5 ZR-600 with upgrade PT-6 Tip 9 Spec.

We also had a 9.5 with a upgrade PT-7 Tip 9 Spec and the distance was on average if i remember right was 8 yards less across the board than the 10.5/PT-6.

So do you recomend I get the 10.5 instead of the 9.5 even if I usally play a 9.5?

  5. Also on the Srixon topic, those looking for a top-end ball should try the Srixon Z-URC. Much better feel than the Z-UR, longer than the Z-URS, it's the perfect balance between the previous 2. I also like Tourstage X balls but the Srixon win me over because their cover is much more resilient. I assume the Z-URC will eventually make it to the US as I believe it's the ball that Furyk and Webb currently play.

It does not look like the Z-URC will ever be available in the United States despite its success on tour. Srixon releases new product in August and January. It def wont be available this August and it the Z-URC is not in the picture for January either.

Tim Clark and Jimenez are playing the Z-URC as well.

  6. IMO srixon irons are getting uglier, does anybody else think so?

the i-302s looked awesome, clean and simple- theses ones just seem messy too much crapage on them

I agree, I love my 302's and the look of the 404's...even going further back the 201's are a solid looking club too (gotta have them bent strong though).
