This looks like the Makser driver I saw earlier this decade - 01/02. They claimed 400+ yards drive during that time. There is a website but google warns that it may be harmful.

iDrive thanks. BTW, how does the Black Gold play compared to a standard S300? I find the S300 a bit heavy for my liking. I'm a decent ball striker but would not qualify to play blades. I have a set of Mizuno MP100 with S300 and find it too difficult if I do not practice regularly. I lose a good 10yards on these beauties.

I'm still in the long decision making process of buying a set of forged irons (since May 08!). I was fortunate to test the Tourstage CB 08 and Epon AF501 at a range while holidaying in Hong Kong. To my dismay I find the Epon AF501 to have a harder feel compared to the TS CB 08. The downside for me on the TS was those irons were only available in NS Pro 95 reg/Stiff which are too soft and light for me. I went for a clubfitting test and was told that I have a 91-93Mph SS on a 5 iron. Hence, I was recommended a DG S300 which I find it on the heavy side for me. I also have a high ball flight and would like to lower the trajactery. I currently play with Tourstage Z101 R300 which is overdue for replacement. I have sort of narrowed down to 3 irons and appreciate any suggestions: 1) TS CB 08. Will probably have to order a S200 shaft that I have not tested. 2) EPON AF301. Never hit but appears to be heavily recommended in this forum with either a NS Pro 1050/1150S. How are they compared to the TS CB 08? 3) Titleist AP2 with PX 5.5. Tried at a demo day. Help!

A very timely topic. I'm looking to replace by Tourstage z101 after 5years and these Epon 3 and 5 series looks good. Can anyone tell me which Epon model will have indentical size to the Z101s? The Eppon 501 looks like the Tourstage Z201s but have stronger lofts. Also, how do the feel compare to the Tourstage.

Have anyone heard or tried these MP 100's. I understand that they are similar to the MP 33s and only 2006 sets were made globally. The priced at $1400 per set but have seen them in e-bay for much less. They do look very nice. Can someone tell me how do they perform on the course? Is is easy to play with?

I hope this thread has not ended yet - I saw some used Honma drivers on sale on e-bay priced fairly reasonable. I saw some TW 911 drivers for sale. My first driver and 3 wood were actually the Honma Big LB series back in 1997. They are very user friendly. If I can recall, my 3 wood face was closed with a few degrees to compensate for my beginner's slice back then. I do find the shaft quite whippy. In fact, a regular flex plays to a ladies flex. Having read your comments, I now have second thoughts of the TW 911. I currently have a titleist 905T driver with the Tour Plaform 26.3 Reg flex shaft. The dampener plug flew out a few weeks back and it's now back with Titleist to be fixed. I find this as a very valid reason to buy a new driver Can anyone share some knowledge on the following: 1) Anyone knows how does the TW 911 9* compare to the Titleist 905T 9.5*. Some of you TSG members say that there is not much difference or the Titleist plays better. As I can recall, Honma Drivers are very forgiving. 3) How does the S flex rating on the Honma shaft plays to the Regular on the Fujikura's? 3) How does the star rating work on the shafts 1star vs 2,3,4 stars. Can anyone share some knowledge on this?

D Had a hit on my new set this evening. Given that it is winter in Melbourne - 8'C outside, I only attempted to hit the 5,7 and P irons. The rest are still in wraps.To being with, I currenly play to 12 HC and has been using Tourstage z101s with DG R300 for about 3 years now. I do not find the size of the club head intimidating as the z101s are even smaller. Both heads feel very soft upon contact. I find the TR900MD is probably a tad softer and crispier than the z101s. I cannot compare the distance as it is pitch dark. The ballflight is quite similar between the two irons. Maybe the z101s are a slightly higher on the 5 iron. This is probably due to the tungsten weight in the z101s. I cannot confirm whether my z101s are from Endo as I purchased them from the Bridgestone dealer who is unsure of the origin. I find the weight of these shafts lighter than the DG R300 that I have on the 101s. It feels that my swingspeed has increased slightly probably due to the weight of the shafts. I also find that the DG shafts are livelier and provides more feedback than the PRGR proprietry shafts. I think the weight of the TR shafts offset the flex in the DG R300 as both shafts feel similar in flex. Not sure how we compare M43 to DG R300 flex. I was initially unsure of bringing this club out to the course this Saturday but I am right now. I had build up my confidence level on this club after just hitting 50+ balls. Just got to be conservative on the distance for each of these clubs. I also tested out the Gauge Design GAS2 Sand wedge. They certainly look very nice with the black. The feel of this club is also soft and it sure has a lot of bite on them. It seems to be tearing the cover the the range balls as I have to wipe the surface after every hit. More comment when I visit the range on Thursday.

I have the Mizuno headcovers with the internal velco strapping. They certainly look nice but it does wear out after a while. I had mine for 3 years and they are beginning to give way. I think they cost about US$55. I'm going back to my cheaper neoprene covers which will probably last me only 1 year + but cost only 15% of the mizuno covers. You can find them in ebay.

Does anyone know how these irons fare if compared to the Tourstage z101. I'm currently considering them but does not have the opportunity to test them before buying. How stiff does the M43 shaft plays to?
