DoubleAA
My swing weight is @ D4 and it helps me with feel and head release.
golfdr
I prefer higher swing weights myself. I think it helps me feel the head during the swing. One thing that I have noticed is that hitters generally like heavier swingweights then sweepers of the ball.
Guest
I like higher swingweights because the club feels easier to drop into the slot. Always end up swinging with too much arms when using lighter clubs which messes with my accuracy. Curious why most new irons are set at D2??? Kiertos
I have noticed that i prefer my irons to be on the hevier side as far as swingweighting is concerned. I have gotten stronger through training and i feel that a heavier head helps me control the clubhead more throughout the swing...
plus1
yeah iv always liked a heavier swing weight myself, i was curious as to what the benefits and downfalls of it were. as golferdr says i too think hitters prefer heavier as u feel more more in the back of the ball
jboy
Momentum1 = Mass1 (golf club ) x velocity1.(club head speed) A golf club hitting the ball is an inelastic collision so some energy is lost but conservation of the rest of the momentum means Momentum 2 (slightly less than Mom1) = mass2 ...of the golf ball (which is a constant) x velocity2 (speed of the ball) providing you can can keep your swing speed constant or increase it you should see distance increases too with heavier clubs Inertia means heavier heads will be less likely to twist offline (hardly noticable though) That's in theory, in reality, the extra weight may affect club takeaway speed, position at the top of the swing plane and so on.. you need to have the physique to handle it and the swing Interestingly a lot of the golf aid products (swing trainers are very heavy). I personally think you should go a little heavier. The manufacturers don't. Chris, what's the heaviest swing weight you've seen in clubs you supply ??
