jlauber
Are there any differences between Japan XR-05 and Japan XR-05 CTI, and Euro versions?
xxio
As far as I know. Pricing and stock shafts. This is basing on my experience with the original XR03s and XR05s. The Japanese versions usually have "Speeder Lites" and the Euros usually have the TM stock shaft of the current models, in this case I think it would be the MAS by Fujikura. The Japanese version will cost around $60-70 more becuse of the shaft upgrade.
jlauber
I can't remember where I read it, but I thought I read that the Euro version is not as hot a face, either. IN any case, thanks for the answer. BTW, have you hit either an XR-05 or the CTI? And if you have, how does it compare against your current model? xxio
I have only hit the Xr05 not the Cti. That was almost 2 years ago. It was with a "speeder lite" in S flex. IIRC It was an 8.5. It was almost square and long but too light. The speeder lite is a decent shaft. I would take it over the Titleist "T Speeder". Played like a hard regular. I can't really compare to any of my current drivers because it's been a while. I just remember it was almost exactly the same size and shape as my Burner 860. I also felt the XR03 was better setting up over the ball at the time. I was so in the groove with my R300 Tour/757 that I was really looking for anyrthing else. No help huh....I'm sure the search feature at sites which have been in existence longer would help you more than my post.
jlauber
Actually I thank you for your honest feedback. Too often I read about how a driver is 20+ yds longer than another. TM claims that the XR-05 is 13 yds longer than the XR-03, which was supposed to be a pretty hot driver in itself. It has been my experience that the longer I play with a specific driver, the more "average" it becomes when compared to others. If you believed all the hype about how a shaft is 20+ yds longer, and the head is 20+ yds longer, and when hit with a specific ball it is 20+ yds longer. And of course, each new model is 20+ yds longer as well. I'm almost 50, and I admit that technology has allowed me to be as long or slightly longer than I was 20 yrs ago, but I'm not 100 yds longer. I was more curious than anything. I am going to get an R7 MAX from TSG because of some of the comments I have read in previous threads, but even those state that it may be 10 yds longer than the standard version. I always hold out the hope that I will find a "magic" driver that is considerably longer than what I play now (as does everyone else...part of the lure of the game). xxio
If you get a R7 Max try to get the 10.5 loft and with the 55 gram Mas2 by Fujikura. That was the best combo (for me and my freinds who have tried the R7Max). The 55 gram shaft will hold up pretty well even on hard swings. For reference I found the S flex only a tad soft and I normally prefer a Fuji Six S flex tipped 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" depending on bore depth. I would say the 55 gram Mas2 would favor comparably to the NV55. Plus you get a heavy head (better feeling head IMHO) when you get the lighter stock shafts!!!! jlauber
Thanks, For your feedback. I just ordered a 9.5 (I tend to hit the ball high, with the 55 MAS). Thanks again, I appreciate all of your feedback. Jeff
xxio
I hope the advice I gave you helps and doesn't hurt. R7 Max is a very good driver but just too much $$$ for me right now. $580 over here might as well get a R7TP.
