scraper
Any advice on how to bring my iron trajectory down. I hit the ball quite high with my irons, and my spin rate with my driver is also high. I fear that I am releasing my hands to early and/or not releasing my body properly. I am able to hit very solid knockdown & 3/4 shots with low, mid or whatever trajectory I desire, but I am unable to correlate these results to my full swing. Is there a swing fix or should I make an equipment change. PS. It probably doesn't help to play rifles in mp33's :smile2:

tekman
Take a clos luuk at your ball position. Too far forward and the ball will go higher, too far back, too low. If your swing isn't the issue, and it's hard to diagnose that without actually seeing it and the ball placement. I'd recommend some of the following. What shafts do you play in your driver and irons. Rather than changing your swing, try a stiffer shaft, or a shaft with a higher kick point, starting with the Driver. I would try a low spinning med or high kick point Fuji shaft in the driver to help reduce spin. Any good clubfitter can help you optimize the numbers. If that works, you might consider trying a shaft or two in a couple of your irons to test the ball flights. For instance. I know that Project X shafts produce a more consistent, lower ball flight than the Tour Flighted Rifles do. Same thing with Dynamic gold X100 vs the S300. scraper
I play the ball in the middle of my stance for middle irons, slightly forward for long, and slighlty back for short. hands are set in a neutral position/slightly pressed off of the inside of my left thigh. kre8ivetl
I would just go out there and try to hit the ball with your hands well forward of the clubhead at impact. Think as if there is a pole (kinda like te inside approach) about a foot in front of the ball, keep your clubhead from hitting it (use ur imagination). This has worked for me, I cant guarantee it to anyone.
overpar2001
Make sure If your saying your right handed, Take some video and make sure your left wrist is not cuping adding loft thru impact, Doesnt really matter that much on ball position if your left wrist does not come thru before the shaft and clubface comes thru and it stays at a bent cup. If no video is available I recommend a forward press at the start and take the irons back to 3 o'clock and swing down thru the line with forward press like a punch shot, Then graduate to your full motion, The key is to trap that ball down the line and not try to hit behind the ball take the divot in front of the ball. Good Luck !
TourGolfJeff
Scraper, In addition to a swing change, a look at equipment might be in order. Lower lofts - on both woods and irons - are a fast way to lower trajectory. A change of 1-2 degrees won't likley cause a negative bounce effect on irons. Rifles do tend to hit the ball high for most players. Try something in a Dynamic Gold - 'won't help as much as loft, but every little bit may help!
