SanDiegoSam
I just picked up a R510 8.5*. My swing requires a 9.5* or 10* loft. Can this head be bent to accommodate this loft? What is typically the process for doing this?
TourGolfJeff
Sam, Loft on a metal wood cannot be changed. If the head is bent open or closed, the effective loft changes, but not the actual loft. The head is closed to increase effective loft and is opened to decrease effective loft. The taylor heads have relatively short hosels and may be difficult to bend. If you need a higher loft, I would suggest trying to find one, rather than trying to bend face angle to create effective loft. Jef
rveardley
:) Saw on golf channel, Taylormade tour van. They put the head in a special vice, heated the hozel till it was red hot, then put a bending bar on it. Not sure I would let anybody do that to my expensive driver. Go to ebay and buy a 9.5, they are cheap right now.
