agoodgolfer
I saw the other post about poker and thought I'd test the waters.. I don't know if everyone else has caught the bug like I have. Seems as though there is poker on everynight of the week. Every casino is opening more and more poker tables. Its becoming a pretty popular game. I've spent sometime online playing. Its kind of fun. Not that same as live play, but not bad. I figure golfing and gambling kind of go hand in hand. Anyone else out there playing online? If so, which sites and whats your nickname.. Would anyone be interested in getting together a few nights a month and shoot the s**t? We could even set up a private table just for TSG members or even do a private tournament. I've seen other forums do similar and I think their members have enjoyed it. Some have even brought prizes and bountys into their games for a little more excitement. It wouldn't be hard to set up. If there is enough interest in here we could probably talk Chris into posting something in the other forums... Chris
phillypete
I don't do the online thing, but we have a Tuesday night thing (which I skipped to study (which I should be doing now))... I'd be down for some sort of TSG tournament. That would be great!

That would be great! Ah, who needs to study? I think it would be kind of fun, even if it was just a few of us playing low limit on a private table. A tournament with some prizes would be even better. Hopefully others chime in. Chris

irish555
I play every couple of months with friends. Never been comfortable with playing on line, but this would be interesting. Could be fun, especially if others got in ont it. Any specific site in mind?

PartyPoker offers both. I'm going to looking possible a private software so people don't have to sign up online if they don't feel like it. With a 10 dollar buy in, if we had 40+ players we could give a way some decent prizes to the top 3.. I'm comfortable with a higher buyin, but we'll have to see how everyone else feels. We could even do a 40 or 50 dollar buyin every few months and make it a TSG Major, then we'd be able to play for some amazing prizes... agoodgolfer
Thought I'd give this a bump. After exchanging PMs with a few users and Chris I set up a league. Its completely free, but there are some requirements to join. Check out the league's site at: www.poker4golfers.com/poker_league.html We're playing at the site below, but check the league FAQ and also the Join page for details. agoodgolfer
Macs are really getting a lot better. I used a Mac back in the Day of the Macintosh 128k. I upgraded to a Macintosh Plus after that, but then PCs started getting big and it was obvious that they were going to be the way of the future. For the last 15 years there hasn't been a reason for me to look into a Mac, but the new OS is starting to grow on me. That little 12" powerbook is a great value, and if you have very few needs outside of the basics its a great choice. There are actually a few sites that Mac users can use. I'll have to find out which ones and I'll post the link. Chris

Well I guess the that you will never get the chance to try one . If you did you would be amazed . No worry about how bad Microcrap will screw up the operating system , don't have to worry about all the patches that come done the pipe ( what is it the second Tuesday of the month  ) Plus we also have the best anti-virus softeware going . And it is called Mac OSX
agoodgolfer
Yeah, but you cant do something as simple as download an online poker software. :spit:  I was an original mac user. Left them for PCs. Recently gave them another shot and purchased one for a loved one. I'm still not going back just yet. For most peoples day to day use they're great. They just don't fit all my needs..

If it comes down to just chillin on line you really cant go wrong with the little ibook. Doubt you'd want the ibook at work. They're still not completely backwards compatible, no matter who tells you they are. Unfortunitly, majority rules. Until Macs are the majority in the work place there will be a lack of software and support. Now how am I going to talk the rest of the members into signing up for the league. I know your Mac users have an excuse, but whats holding everyone else back from a free poker league? We've had to push back the first tournament back a week because of a lack of players. Hopefully we can talk others to sign up. If anyone has questions or concern please send me a PM and I can help you. Chris
irish555
I signed up yesterday because I ran out of time Saturday, what with taking care of my 7 month old son. Then I was disappointed to find that the tournament had been delayed a week because of a lack of players. I can't see why nobody seems to be interested. What's to lose, I mean after all, it's free. Come on, surely some more of you are interested.
