I did not find any relevant information in any recent topics on TSG. Googling for 983 Tour...a few ebay items state the "no serial number" passes as a "Tour" head. Is this true? On a retail head is the serial number on the hosel/head? Can someone order a custom head/shaft combo for Titleist and not get a serial number on the head/hosel? With all the discussion relating to authenticity of "Tour" products, I'm just trying to become an informed shopper. :rough: Kind regards, Eric
February 10, 200519 yr comment_77272 My advice, Stay from any ebay auction trying to pass no serial #'s as tour. Here in Canada, Titty stuff never comes with a serial #. The only way to know if it is tour is to know the seller. The FW are a little easier to tell due to markings, but with the driver, it is hit/miss. My advice, stay away and get a cheap used retail and stick a wicked shaft in it :money: God Bless Jer P.S. if you are still confused, go buy a retail Comp!!!! :love:

February 10, 200519 yr comment_77324 Here in Europe many 983s come with no serial number. It is basically impossible to tell the diff. between the retail and tour just by looking at the driver. The differences are: a) the tour driver is a handpicked head that has been through a more thourogh quality control B) the tour head is set up for a particular player c) the tour head may be without heel weighting, but it may have heel weighting if the player it was set up for requested it d) the tour head is normally (but not always) heavier, because many tour players play their drivers a little shorter that 45 inches and prefer a little heavier swingweight If you are going to purchase a Titleist tour driver, know your source and ask how the driver i sset up.
