pdt
I have a chance to pick up XR-05 Mitsubishi Rayon at much less than R7. Any suggestion on XR-05 comparing to R7? Am I focus to much on the driver head rather than the shaft since the shaft is the major part of the driver?
yumanike
Will you be playing any tournaments? I belive the XR-05 is non-conforming.
jinjuwooa
Will you be playing any tournaments? I belive the XR-05 is non-conforming. He is correct, all XR japan series are US non-conforming. I have never hit an XR-05, but have an XR-03 which is a little smaller, 410cc compared to the XR-05 which I believe is 440cc. Pretty long and forgiving, but you still have to hit the ball, whether conforming or not. I have decided to get a conforming driver because I have morals
jich505
I have not hit the XR-05 but have hit the XR-03s (now playing R7 TP) in the past and those were very under-rated drivers, mostly here because of the NON conforming. The feeling of the two drivers, I felt, were very similar. I think too many people get into the fact that the XR series are non-conforming and that it is not right to play them. My take on that is if youare playing rec golf and go out on Sundays or what ever day you play and just want to enjoy the game with a GREAT and FORGIVING driver then play the XR clubs. Unless you have an incredible swing speed the difference in yardage is NOT that great. Many "reputable" members on various sites have said that the XR clubs were defintiely GREAT clubs and long. Go and hit what you feel is going to make the game more fun (unless you are playing official US tourneys). :smile2: But in regards to your shafts, they too make a huge difference in how well you will hit either of those clubs, so choose accordingly. I hit the XR03 with a Speeder 757 combo and was one of the most solid set ups I have hit. Liked it better than the Mitsu combo. Hope this helps and Good Luck!!!!!
