TaylorMade R7 HT

I have owned a R7 retail, R7 TP Tour and a R7 Shallow face. For me, the shallow face tour worked out so much better than the deep face models. My swing speed is around 105. A local shop had a slightly used HT come in so I demoed it against the tour shallow face. I couldn't tell any noticeable difference. In fact the retail HT was slightly longer. It does sit about 1/2 to 1 degree more closed than the tour R7. The feel, sound and ballflight was also very much like the tour shallow face. I didn't think it sounded tingy but sometimes its hard to tell when your hitting it verses you watching someone else hit.

I bought the HT, sold the tour shallow face and used the difference to buy a good 3 wood.

Hope this helps

good review thanks. I actually only looked at a couple of R7 HT's. I looked at a 9.5 and I'll tell ya, it sat perfect, unfort it was a regular shaft , not stiff, or I would have bought it . Perfectly square, compared to the regulra r7's which to me all look a little shut. I also like the shape of the head, thats one thing i didn't really like about the Reg r7, the deep face. Thanks again. btw- I didn't realize there was a R7 HT TP. I'm not surprised.

have never hit a retail r7 ht. i had been using a r7 tp shallow face until i got my 2 r5 dual tp drivers. i liked the r7 tp shallow face a lot better than the r7 tp df, i found it able to hit it high/low more easily & easier to work the ball, as far as loud, cant really say. the r7 tp shallows have never been & probably will never be release, but im sure you can find one on the net. ive only been able to hit my r5 dual tp drivers a few times & a few sessions on the launch monitor, so far, i like them a lot better than the r7's i have.
