easirois
Hello, I am planning to have an Ashton X1 FWD 14deg built with a Rifle 6.5 steel shaft. I would like to have a final swingweight around D3. I'm having an awful time trying to figure the weight of the rifle shaft. It is somewhere between 117- 130gm. Looking at some swingweight calculators it looks like this heavier end a swingweight of D3 is atainable with a final length of 42.5". The head weigth of the fwd is 208gm and I was planning to use a Lamkin Dual Density crossline at 48gm. Does anyone have a better idea of what is the weight of a Rifle 6.5 wood shaft? I currently have a Titleist 13 980F with an X100 and I find the ball flight a little too low....roughly 8-10deg launch angle. If I get up a bit higher the ball just ballons on me and dies. From what I can gather it looks like the Ashton X1 FWD is similar to the sonartec 2.5 (mid flight)..and X1D is like the Sonartec 3.5 (lower flight)...but I'm not absolutely sure. My other question is would a 14 deg mid flight fwd with a rifle 6.5 a good combo for getting the ball up a bit more with a nice trajectory..or is the Rifle just going to throw the ball up in the air? Kind regards, Eric

Kind regards, Eric First, You can't be precise without a swingweight scale and measuring board. Second, Not knowing how you've hit the ball w/ your old club and how your swing style is...IMO it's impossible to tell that you'll hit the ball w/ perfect trajectory or not w/ the new set up. Definitely looking at the spec of your new set up, you'll hit the ball higher but i can't tell how much higher you'll hit them ...cuz I never hit the Ashton FW. BTW, 8*-10* launch angle on the 3 wood is a worm burner IMO. I'm not sure what to say here if you said that higher than that you baloon the ball. joe
