reshaft

How much does reshafting a club cost? Just wanted to know. I'm looking for a new shaft to give me a lower tradjectory.

Oh, how much does it cost for a regrip? Better yet, how can I do it myself?

thats like asking how much new tires cost.

its all gonna depend on the shaft price, the work will most likely cost the same. if you want a lower trajectory, go with a heavier shaft, a shorter shaft, and/or a stiffer shaft. depending on how much you want to spend, it could be anywhere from $30-$300.

regripping is a little bit easier than reshafting. i always tell people learn to do this yourself because theres no way in hell you should pay someone a labor charge to do it. its simple...get a few old clubs and a few cheap grips and give it a shot. theres instructions on golfsmith.com...youre gonna need grip tape, solvent (mineral spirits will work just fine), and a utility knife (a hook blade works best) to cut an old grip off.

good luck and have fun with it!

reshaft - i've got some irons and fairway woods done at the local edwin watts for $30/ per club + grip. that was labor and shaft (rifle 6.0). i got a driver done as well and it was $60 + grip and that too was labor and shaft (graf prolite 35).

regrip - should learn to do it yourself, but if you are like me and live in an apartment its a little hard to get a good space to do it. local golfsmith is charging $1 and most pro shops are charging $2-3.

It all depends on the shop. The smaller shops tend to charge a bit more, usually around $20 for labor on a standard reshaft, $30+ for a bore-thru. Golfsmith charges $17 for a standard one, $23 for a bore-thru.

Just make sure you ask to see some of the club builder's work before you hand over your clubs. I wouldn't trust 95% of these "club builders" to regrip my set, let alone use heat/epoxy/knives near my precious clubs!
