Scratch '05 Cb's (protos) Sweeper Grind (Comparison Pics coming soon. My wife and I just had a baby girl this past weekend & prior to going into the hospital, she erased all pics of my clubs to make more room for the baby)

Ok, to start out I will give you a little bit about my game and the specs of the irons that I have. I play between a 7 - 9 handicap currently it sits on 9. I am about 5’10" and weight about 176 lbs. I hit a mid/hight ball flight. The strength of my game is iron play & the specs for the cb's are the following:

Shafts - 5.5 tfr's

Length - 37.75" 5 iron

Lie & Loft - 1* up, 1* strong

Grip - Tour Velvet Turned Down

COSMETICS:

I have removed all paintfill on all clubheads (chrome) and these clubs are simply beautiful in person. The ar-1's are just simple and sleek just how I like them. Out of any other club I have owned, these are definitely the nicest looking of all the irons maybe with the exception of my z101's with paintfill removed) (own z101's, 23 cb's miura 201's, mp 30's, mp 33's) Don't get me wrong, we are all entitled to our opinions, but I'm more of a chrome guy, that's why I lean towards this particular set of ar-1's and the z101's. They are a bit larger from heel to toe than I am used to (z101's. 23 cb's) but I got over that very quickly. (they appear more the size of the miura's imo, with the ar-1's being marginally smaller and compact)

May have to ask Ari to set me up with some Tournament Blades 8-PW (what a combo set)

SWINGWEIGHT:

I purchased this set from TTLAM and actually had to have the set reshafted/blueprinted by Max @ CGC. (best builder in the TriState area in my opinion) New swingweights are as follows: (Just how I wanted them / PW has tape added)

4 / D1.5 8 / D2

5 / D1.5 9 / D2

6 / D1.5 PW / D3

7 / D1.5

FEEL:

These clubs feel so solid when hit on the sweet spot. I absolutely love the feeling. They are without a doubt the softest clubs I have hit to date. I did not think it was possible to hit anything softer than the 201's, but I was definitely mistaken. They really remind me of a combo of the z101's and miura 201's (crsip like the 101's but buttery like the 201's) It's a bit difficult to explain, but the feedback this set offers is unmatched (again, imo)

WORKABILITY:

These clubs are not the easiest clubs to work, but I am not someone who likes to work the ball every time I step up for a shot, so it has not been an issue for me. I can still hit my natural cut whenever needed and if I need to hit a draw, I've found success as well. They offer great playability on 1/2, 3/4 and punch shots. I can control distances really well and i can hit low bullets with each iron in the set. (obviously no hot spots of any kind) The short irons have a bit too much offset for me so like a stated above, I hope to have Ari to set me up with some Tournament Blades 8-PW

FORGIVENESS AND EASE OF HITTING:

This is a department that these clubs truly shine in. These clubs are the most forgiving players club I have hit to date. (similar to 201's) They are pretty much on the same forgivness level as the Miura 201's with a very similar hitting hitting area. My misses are usually off the toe, and I have been punished with minimal loss of distance and minimal misdirection off the target line. (I have hit more greens with these than with any other set I've owned including cally x14's and 14 pro's) When it comes to ease of hitting the long irons, this set probably has the easiest long irons to hit out of any set. .

BALLFLIGHT:

Ball flight is about the same for me as all my previous sets / mid to mid high flight (The flight is extremely comparable to that of miura 201's that I had built with the exact same specs/shafts) Z101's fligh a bit lower (same 5.5 tfr's) but I mostly believe that was due to the stronger lofts throughout the set.

CONCLUSION:

Overall these are the best clubs I have owned or hit to date. They are definitely clubs that are going to be better in some areas than others, but you have to weigh what you like better. In overall performance these are definitely my all time favorite. They are easy to hit in the long irons, easy enough to work, forgiving for a players clubs, beautiful to look at and all around the best club for me to date. Ari & Scratch have a true winner here and if you get a chance to get your hands on a set, by all means snatch them up.

I'm sure there is some info I have not included, so if anyone has a question, just ask. ari & Scratch, thanks again for an unbelievable set of irons.

James,

I love my z101's as well. (better than the 23's for my game) but the ar-1's are a step above for me. (again this is just my opinion and how the set better suits my game) I absolutely love the way the 101's set up to my eye and they feel pretty darn nice too, but the ar-1's are much less punishing on off center hits. (as I stated, minimal loss of distance and accuracy) I'm just trying to find the sticks that best help me perform at my highest level & to this point, the '05 cb's have that slot in the bag. I purchased the set used from TTLAM and I got an unreal deal on them for a set in this condition. ($650 shipped) I'm not 100% positive what a new set would run you, so maybe you could pm Ari and he'll provide you with an accuarate quote. The money spent on scratch cb's will be well worth it.
