sfgolfer
Finally, another TSGer with Harrison steel on board! Thanks for the pics. Those SMT wedges have a great look to them.
plus1
i never even knew harrison made steel shaft lol! how do they compare to DG, Rifle, Nippon?
sfgolfer
Heavier... that's the main difference to (and the main thing for) me. They are smooth as silk, but I like them b/c I can get 135g at a comfortable S flex. I like the feel much better than the DG, but I don't know if that's weight or design. My guess is a little a both. Ashamed to say I've never played Nippon, so I don't have a basis for comparison. My recollection is they don't make any shafts heavier than 120g. And Harrisons are far better shafts than Rifle for all sorts of reasons. I wouldn't use a Rifle shaft to beat my neighbor's dog... IMHO. plus1
nippons def would not suit you if like a heavy club....nippon is very much so a lightweight shaft! harrisons sound nice but not for me....they would be hard work lol :wah: thanks for the info.....ps sweet sticks there golfebj
golfebj
Thanks guys! It's taken me several years but I've got my bag tweeked almost the way I want it. Two more hybrids and I'll be done. Some how, some way I'm getting the Nickent 3DX in 17° and 23°. Harrison PG's are heavy. They've made steel for years and very comparable to Dynamic Gold (i.e. Weight Sorted, Ball Flight). My next iron move will be to the SMT CB2: 4i-7i, SMT MB: 8i-PW. Next season... hopefully! Edited July 18, 2006 by golfebj

Phillip Alexander
I have to ask for a review on the Ashton driver. I have been surfing the web like everybody else and the Ashton did catch my eye. Your comments would be appreciated. :tsg_smilie_cool:
golfebj
I have to ask for a review on the Ashton driver. I have been surfing the web like everybody else and the Ashton did catch my eye. Your comments would be appreciated. :tsg_smilie_cool: The heavier head weight (@208) combined with the TX-90 shaft which is a regular flex shaft tipped an extra half inch is pure money for me. My preference is for a heavier club but the additional head weight allows me to feel the club all the way through the swing with great results. My drives are between 250-260yds with a nice penetrating trajectory. Slight fade. If you like a heavier shaft but still want to feel the head throughout the swing go with the MS-5 HW! I got mine from Tim Hewitt @ www.myostrichgolf.com. I asked for certain specs which they verified for me! (Actual loft: 9.5°; Face angle: Square)

golfebj
Got my new Datrek Vibe. It's a crossover bag that easily fits into a push/pull cart, riding or carrying. The club system is great and the quick access magnetic pooch on the front makes it a cinch to grab a ball out. golfebj
Golfebj, could you do a comparison between your old Ashton driver and your new Taylor Made driver?? The Ashton was a solid driver and the main difference I found was first in the sound that the TaylorMade produces. A bit more muted than the Ashton. The Ashton sets up like the the classic pear shapes of Titleist drivers. I prefer the r510 tp shape and size. Sets up nice for me. The shafts are a world of difference. Going from the Ashton with a Grafalloy Pro Lite to Fuji Speeder 757 in the r510. Better combination for me and a bit more more confidence. Like going from the 550i to M5.
