Hard step, soft step etc

Guys just looking for some feedback. I understand the idea of soft stepped and hard stepped in the Nippons.

I hate to compare the Nippons with the DGs and I understand it is a completely different shaft, however is the following analogy accurate?

Nippons stiff flex, approximately DG s300

Nippon stiff flex hard stepped, approximately DG s400

Nippon stiff flex soft stepped, approximatley DG s200

Nippon x flex, approximately, DG x100

Nippon x flex soft stepped, approximately DG s400

What is the ramification of cutting the butt end on these. The reason for the question is the rifles play stiffer if they are over length, but I do not believe this to be the case with the Nippons.

All fedback is appreciated. :smile2:

Different models of Nippons have different stiffness, so I'll give you the rifle scale numbers, so you can figure out yourself.

DGS300: 5.7

DGX100: 6.7

Each stepping will change +(-) .2

Nippon 950 S: 5.3

Nippon 1050 S: 5.3

Nippon 1150 S: 5.7

Nippon 950 X: 6.0

Nippon 1050 X: 6.0

Nippon 1150 X: 6.4

Haven't had measured them with digital analyzers, so take it for what it's worth. :spit:
