Gauge Design 2006 GFT-FW proto 4 wood

Spec: 16* with Graphite Design Tour AD I-65 tipped 1/2" at 42.5", D2.5

Total weight: 335 gms.

Look: 9.0 Small, pear-like head, black color, simple and traditional. Sole has a big ㄈ shape rail for better forgiveness in the rough, 2 screws at the back of the sole, the sole is also very simple looking with good design.

Feel: 9.7 The whole club feel kind of heavy at 335gms total weight compare to regular market fairway woods, but the head is compact and feel like a "Player's club" from the statrt. On impact, the ball explodes off the face and the impact is solid and pure, not gimmick tones or tin can loud noices, very simple and true, like a true good FW should.

Trajectory: 9.0 (Mid-High), The trajectory is perfect, the heavy feel in the sole plate definite get the ball high easily, but in no sense that it balloons the balls, the arch is perfect like a true boring trajectory. 10-15 yards of rolls noted off tee and on a good clean lie.

Workability: 9.3 Easily workable, fade or draw with out much effort. High shots are easy with simple ball placement and so is the low runners.

Forgiveness: 9.0 The small head with about 0 offset does not come well in the mis-hits, ball the distance loss is not too unbearable, mostly miss to the toe. The dispersion on the shots are good when well struck.

Distance: 9.8 Ball go far. It's a 4 wood with a 3 wood distance, it is longer than the RC H-type that i tried before on same holes. This club really gives good distance on pure shote off tee and from the short grass. I average 240-250 off the tee and 230 + from the fairway, which is plenty long for me.

Conclusion: This thing is for real, it just knocked the 3 wood out of my bag. I like every aspect of it, it's a 4 wood sits like a 5 wood but performs like a 3 wood, so i am and really thinking hard to try a 7wood.
