Phillip Alexander
:tsg_smilie_confused: A quick question for the learned gentlemen. Can somebody explain the benefits of having your woods foamed?? Who does this?? Aprroximate cost to have it done??
bumpNrun24
The major difference that foam does for clubs is it mutes the sound of them. There are lots of beautiful golf clubs out there, but some of them are just straight up annoying when the ball comes off. As far as getting this done, maybe you should give Joe Kwok a PM and he can discuss a price. The ones that I have had done were no charge jobs by our club tech in Golf Galaxy. From what I have seen, it is fairly simple, but I am sure it only looks like that. I hope this helps a little.
Phillip Alexander
:tsg_smilie_cool: Thanks for your help. I believe this also increases the weight of the head, which to me would be good.

sfgolfer
I think the weight benefit is minimal - the primary benefit is the muting sound that BNR refers to. Like it or not, sound is a very important element of feel and this provides more of punch in the gut sound at impact as opposed to dropping a hubcap. I know someone who had this done a few seasons ago and - through regular use - is having very small pieces of the foam break apart a little in the head which has replaced the annoying metallic sound with a rattle. From what I understand, this might be native to the process not the quality of the applicator. Anyway, you may want to ask Joe about this. I'm not sure many TSGers have drivers long enough to know the long-term endurance of the foam! :tsg_smiley_embarrassed:
sly_sam
I'd love to foam one of those old ERC Fusion drivers from a few years back. See if it can actually sound any more dull or flat than it already is.
