Randy
I used to play almost nothing but import clubs and then I changed out to an all Ping bag about 6 months ago. Although really good irons (I5), I felt like I was missing something. I did try a few other sets ( x-blade CB, MR-23 CB, MP-32, MP-60, x-tour), but nothing could kick the I5s out of the bag. Will that changed when I tried a set of BERES TW901 irons. The Pings are sold. Following are my brief initial impressions after a couple of range sessions and one round with them: *Looks - very classic and look much better than in the pictures. I'm not a big fan of lots of off-set, thick topine or wide soles. The I5s had about as much of as I could take on any of those. The BERES fit my eye as well as any set of irons I have owned. *Forgiveness - This is where I was a little worried about these irons. I am a 13 handicap and wasn't sure if I could handle these clubs. Maybe I just had an extremely good ball striking day, but I had no problem hitting these irons solidly. I don't think they have as much forgiveness as the I5s, but more than any of the other irons I mentioned above with the exception of the x-tour. Although it has been a few months since I hit the x-tours, the TW 901s seem to me to have almost the same amount of forgiveness. * Feel - After hitting these I realized what I was missing with the I5s and that was great feel. The I5s don't feel bad, but the feel of these is exceptional. I don't know if they are forged and quite honestly don't care as they are the best feeling irons I have ever hit. * Performance - Another areas where these irons really shine. The set I got came with the graphite shafts. Although really good shafts, the overall weight was not enough for me, so I installed PX 5.5s in them. Eventhough they are about .5 degrees weaker than the Pings, I was hitting them about 8 to 10 yards further. The ball just seems to rocket off the face. Even a couple of my regular playing partners commented on this. I am pretty much a straight ball hitter, but didn't have any problems moving the ball left or right a couple of times and even hit two knock down shots with them. Just my initial thoughts. I also picked up a BERES TW 911 driver and will give my initial impressions of it after I play a round with it tomorrow. Aloha Randy
Blader-X
Great review, Randy. There really is something to be said for import clubs. My bag has been increasing with import clubs and the feel of them is truly exceptional. Keep hitting them well! Import clubs
