plus1
ok guys, not often i need to ask advice about shafts but this time i do lol! i just picked up another set of the fantastic Gauge Design Sudio Handmades and with them in an unbelievable deal of the century, i got a set of the original Gauge Design Forged Cavity Back Heads. When i agreed on the deal i really was not sure what to expect from these heads - So anyway the shipment came in and i opened up the box with the FCB's - i was pleasently surprised......Not only where the heads brand new with their head weights etc etc included, but the heads themselves look fantastic. Also another point to note about these irons is that they seem to be forged in the KYOEI factory - which IMO has some of the softest purest feeling forgings out there. This is where Gauge previously had their irons forged until the factory could not keep up with the large scale output. anyhow, i am noticing on the heads they their headweights are as follows pw - 293.3g 9 - 285.1g 8 - 278.2g 7 - 270.5g 6 - 263.9g 5 - 257.2g 4 - 250.7g 3 - 242.6g Are these slightly heavier than standard? also if these are slightly heavier then what shaft would be recommended for these heads......i have 4 sets of shafts in the house Tour concepts, Project x. Nippon 1150 and Nippon 950...... also i can play my irons at either 37.75" 5 iron or 38 " 5 iron......could this have any effect? Any advice would be appreciated, Bj Edited September 14, 2006 by plus1
plus1
ok so found out some good info...... these are slightly heavier than retail usa forged irons so as they can swing weight at d2 with a 37.75 inch 5 iron. meaning that i can really put in any shaft i want. From previous experience with the gauge irons i found that a slightly softer flexed px works fantastic in these.....so here goes! ps the orange iomic grips with green caps will be slapped on too! lol
