Henry
Anyone have this shaft? Thoughts and comments are appreciated. I have been told that Japanese shafts are a little softer so a stiff flex may feel more like a SR flex. Correct?

Do a search on this website as you'll find some good feedback already written about this shaft. As far as the flex concerning Japanese shafts versus other shafts I don't buy it. It all depends upon the company making the shaft and the shaft itself. I can say the shafts I have had experience with definitely have more feel but I haven't felt any difference in flex. You can't go wrong with high end shafts that match your swing characteristics.

Very smooth loading (like the Axiv) without that Axiv kick. I had it in a lofted fairway wood and couldn't have asked for more. The soft to flex question is impossible to answer in a blanket way as I find all shafts play a little different (i.e., a Blue Board Diamana IMO feels pretty stiff next to an equivalent flex NV). Phillip Alexander
The best indication of shaft flex is the CPMs. This is measured on a machine. The higher the CPMs the stiffer the shaft. That said, shafts have different kick points and different characteristics depending upon quality, howver if it is just flex that concerns use start with CPM. ......then ask Chris to fit you for the rest. I can confirm what you just said. My Fuji Six, 569, ZCom and Tour Release (all S flex)all play about 245-248 CPM at 45". A Vista Pro would play stiffer since it is more towards North America while the Sixes and Speeders are all Japanese spec. My SS is only 88-90 mph which would put me at a R flex at best on North America spec but a SR and S on a Japanese spec. Most players playing Japanese clubs can confirm that.
