Mike
Your clubs are 1" over length :!: :!: Wholly cow and here I thought I had alligator arm's  Or are you really tall . I'm 6'2" and I play mine at +1/2" and 2* flat . Seems weird don't it . Over length but flat lie's . But my swing is starting to return and I'm so happy I could kiss Err no I better not say that  You guy's might get the wrong impression . I do have the same problem as you with my wood's , they are not flat enough so all I do is let my arms hang natural and let the toe come up , It works thats all I can say . Bending a wood or rescue is a risky propostion so you know why nobody will do it for you . Glad to see you had a good time and if I ever make down that way wil be sure to play those course's . But it's going to take either a stick of dynamite or a forced move to get me off this Island and year round golf in Canada :D I am not sure I understand how you guys are getting fitted - Most people that need longer clubs nomally also require them to be bent more upright -but if it works and you can control the length - go with it. Keep in mind that the pros even change - when Ernie Els switched to Titleist he went a 1/2 inch shorter for greater control. For me AK , being 6'2" and having gator arm's I need the extra length just to get comfertable over the ball . Then I have a flat swing on top of that , so it kind of balance's it out in the end . Example +1/2" = 1* upright , clubs are bent 2* flat . So in the end they are basically 1* flat . At least that's how it has been explained to me . :) If my clubs are to upright , my swing starts to change to a more upright swing and then I start hitting Chinese hooks . Due to the fact I bring it back too far on the inside which cause's me to bring it back down even further from the inside . Causing a real big inside to out swing . Then no one is safe standing to my right :) Or I just end up topping the ball :(
Mike
man I really need to get fitted but I just don't have the time or the money... life is so jam packed right now... I need a few more hours in the day. pete you are young and have lots of time don't worry about it .
phillypete
man I really need to get fitted but I just don't have the time or the money... life is so jam packed right now... I need a few more hours in the day. pete you are young and have lots of time don't worry about it . right right, but I wanted to do some serious damage to my handicap while I was down here but the darn thing hasn't really budged... its like no matter what I do I find a way to screw it up. Maybe the courses down here are more difficult or something but I am hitting my irons 10x better than I was. I am hitting my driver 100x better. I am putting just a little bit better. and my short game has made some serious improvement too. But my score stays the same... I think I am just unlucky at this game some people hit a s**tty drive and watch it bounce off a tree and run right through a bunker to the fairway. I hit a decent drive which hits a sprinkler head in the fairway and sits down on the right side of a tree... giving me no play... such is the life of Phillypete. Mike
I see were you are coming from now . Everyone goes through times like that . Just wasn't meant to be for you . I doubt if the course's are that much tougher , it's just that you are finding it tougher due to the bad breaks and bounce's you are getting . Plus I also think your love life has sort of gotten in the way  j/k When you get back up north I'm sure thing's will start to go your way for awhile , then boom back the way they were down south . Then they will change again . Thats just golf , will always be that way . Thats why we have to work to play golf and not play golf to work :)

Like you said when it gets bad I don't want anybody to my right. All of the wear on my clubface is on the heel side and I fell a little flatter and shorter will help with this. We will see...I have been known to tinker with the equipment a bit. We will see how things go.

Me I tried all last year to fix what was wrong by changing my swing that everything else got out of whack , instead of just playing and letting it work it's self out . I don't tinker as I don't have a spot to do the tinkering :)
Alcap26
Well Mike after 175 golf balls at the range today...it is 75 here today I finally got my swqing back on plane and that sweet click sound of a forged club hitting a ball came back. They felt great but if you look at the face afterwards everything was on the heel side of the sweetspot. I could not swing any better and i was still catching the heel. I am so glad I read your post b/4 i went because I started off hitting it like s**t and then I thought of your post and I forced my hands up and it helped. The low hand/flat swing gets me stuck behind the ball and it sucks when it creeps back in. Now my back is screaming for ice but I wanted to ingrain the swing so I just kept hitting...I will pay for this tomorrow.

Alcap26
I think it creeped in when I was at myrtle beach in the wind and was trying to hit a low slinging hook. I used to hit that shot a lot but after I have worked on the swing and tried to get it on better plane it made the ball flight higher and less curve. When it gets cold and windy this creps in. I am just glad I got to hit today and it went good. I then come home and dumbas me I forgot to activate a player in the first group for the first round of Doral. What a week. chainsaw
I think I might actually make it to the range this weekend after almost a two month lay off. I hate hitting in cold weather :? . It's gonna be ugly!!! Just to chime in on the club length issue, I'm 6'3 and my sticks are .5 over. I used to play one inch over but then I read somewhere about Ernie playing .5 and since I wanted to be like the Big E I jumped down. I've been fighting a draw though. I was hitting the ball well at the end of last year but I was hitting a draw and I just hated it. No matter what I did I couldn't get the ball to fade which for some reason is so much more visually appealing than a draw to me. We'll see what I throw out this weekend. You aren't the only one that fights a draw . But for me it doesn't happen on every shot :? And that has really got me confused . I also have never been able to hit a proper fade , only thing I can do so hit a push cut so I don't even try anymore . I figure since I play to a low single digit playing what I have I might as well stick with it and not try and change my swing again cause all it ends up doing is driving me crazy :) And I play like crap :(
