Alcap26
I think I might actually make it to the range this weekend after almost a two month lay off. I hate hitting in cold weather :? . It's gonna be ugly!!!Just to chime in on the club length issue, I'm 6'3 and my sticks are .5 over. I used to play one inch over but then I read somewhere about Ernie playing .5 and since I wanted to be like the Big E I jumped down. I've been fighting a draw though. I was hitting the ball well at the end of last year but I was hitting a draw and I just hated it. No matter what I did I couldn't get the ball to fade which for some reason is so much more visually appealing than a draw to me. We'll see what I throw out this weekend. You aren't the only one that fights a draw . But for me it doesn't happen on every shot :? And that has really got me confused . I also have never been able to hit a proper fade , only thing I can do so hit a push cut so I don't even try anymore . I figure since I play to a low single digit playing what I have I might as well stick with it and not try and change my swing again cause all it ends up doing is driving me crazy :) And I play like crap :( Mike I think we were seperated at birth. You could not describe my situation any better. I am just coming up and out of it right now but like I said after about 175 balls I think I have dug my swing out of the dirt. I don't think it helps taking swings in the yard and not wanting to take a divot but sometimes you can't help but go out and swing when you can't make it to the range. Chainsaw thanks for adding to this...I am going to cut my clubs down. It is a good thing my best friend has a brand new compound mitre saw. Save a few bucks. The only course of note I've ever palyed is the Old Course . Played it back in 93 when I lived in Germany . 4 of us hoped in a van drove up and it was a miricle we gat a great tee time . I used to be a NASCAR fan when I was younger...partly because my grandfather owned two cars that ran the circuit in the early 60's and my family was into it but after Davey Allison got killed I lost interest. Nascar is rigged from the standpoint the manufacturers dictate finishing...my grandfather ran pontiacs and he was told that if certain Pontiac drivers from the time were still competitive he was not to finish ahead of them if he wanted to continue to recieve their support but I still love watching the Bristol race. nothing better than watching them go 125 mph in a cereal bowl but I am very happy the F1 season has begun. For me , and I hope you dan't take this the wrong way I will never set foot in the House that Tony inherited . Could have gone a couple of years ago but turned it down flat . I personally think that Tony George is the worst thing to happen to racing in NA ever . Rant over sorry. Well he is leaving Sir Franks team but he is going to a team that has been my favorite since day one McLeran . I got to meet the great Bruce McLeran just before he was killed testing there new Can Am car and that was a long time ago . I don't think that they will do much this year but I have to say that I'm sure that next year or the year after watch out as Mercedees sp? is probably sick and tired of have Shusucker win with Ferreri . I myself have never been a big Nascar fan , we don't have any race's up here so never got into them . I might watch part of the 500 in Feb and a few others. And when I did watch a race would always be hoping that #3 would win . So another reason why I don't watch much now . A racing family background how interesting , did you ever give it any thought about it yourself . Any at all ?? One of my nephews race's but is is mostly open wheel stuff around southern Ontario and Michigan . Don't know exactly what series or cars they use . He has told me but can't seem to remember what it is.

chainsaw
I wouold love to caddy like you have just to see how they play this game we call golf It's a totally different game. Faxon was unbelievable, the guy just did not miss putts. We're going around and I'm thinking he's not playing too bad today anyway I look at the leaderboard and he busted out a 63, 9 under. I thought Byrd had a bad day and he shot a 68. Two years ago he got to play with Micheel who was sweating keeping his card a little. Incredible ball striker and super nice guy, just couldn't make a putt to save his life. That's the real difference on tour, putting it seperates the contenders from the pretenders. Alcap26
Mike, I actually thought of going into racing boats. My father held the record in his division for a 17 1/2 foot bass(fishing boat) at one time in the 1980's. He was timed at 107 mph. This was a 2 run measurement average of both times. The time stood for a while until a group from Canada came down and broke it. He taught me how to drive the boat and at age 14 I was topping the century mark. This scared my dad because he said it came to naturally to me and he knows how dangerous boats can be so he would only let me drive like that with him in the boat. My uncle still tests for Mercury outboards. I haven't driven a boat that fast since he sold it and I hate to go out on the pontoon boat he has now...too damn slow. Thought about cars but at the time I was interested it was not an option.

Am too old would probably have the big one right there  I actually gave racing a lot of thought at one time . Had the form all filled out to attend racing school and the check written up . But then I looked at what the cost of what racing would be with no sponser's and decided then that there was no way I could do it . Would still love to take a car for a run on a track , since I do drive for a living .
chainsaw
107 Mph in a boat In a bass boat nonetheless. There's not exactly a whole lot between you and the water in those babies. That is riding by the seat of your pants! You can find some real nice bass boats around though. Some of the good old boys back in Texas had some serious stuff going in theirs. Excuse this question am not into fishing  Just how far off the water are you in a bass boat ?? If you are going to tell me it is in inches I will really pass on a ride with Al then . Unless of course he lets me drive :) Fastest I've ever gone is about 150Mph on the German autobahn when I had my Vette 8)
Alcap26
On the back of a bass boat you find a section called the pad...after you get to a certain speed you get on it and the majority of the boat is out of the water plus the engine has been trimmed up to where less and less of it is under water. At 107 There were just a few inches of the boat actually touching the water but it is such a smooth ride. Just strap on your helmet, neck support, and racing jacket and it is quite smooth. The boat was a 17 1/2 foot Norris Craft (Manufactured in LaFollete TN) with a 2.4 6 cylinder Mercury outboard engine that was worked on quite a bit and just enough flotation to get the boat declared legal w/o the engine (if it overturned with the engine it would have sank). The boat was named Smokin Gold 2. I still get to see my uncle test props when he is getting ready to go on a trip in our cove. He ran some quarter miles in the low 12 second range. I used to love to just ride up and down the lake at 70 mph to 80mph. I actually can't stand to fish but if I had the right boat (need an extra $50,000) I probably would not be playing golf....just running up and down the lake. Alcap26
This is who made the boats my uncle and father used. Also Allison Craft make fast boats. http://www.norriscraftboats.com/ http://www.allisonboats.com/ This pic is what you might be in for These are moving down the lake...I would say in the 75-85mph range...maybe a bit higher.
