Ok I need to get these equations right. on the face progression is the higher number the less offset or the lower the less offset.

For instance is 3.5 fp less offset then 2.5 or the other way around. Thanks I can pick the right irons until I get this again I used to have it but now im mixed up. Thanks

the lower the # the lower the offset/face progression?

I believe it's the Higher number of "Face Progression" the Less "Offset" there is. If I'm not mistaken, Face Progression is measured from the center of the hosel to the leading edge.

I knew I shouldn't have responded... :tsg_smiley_crazy:

The measurement is from the center of the shaft to the leading edge of the blade.

so the larger the FP number the less the offset...the lower the number the larger the offset.

Thank you I needed that I was deciding to get new irons I used to know it but its been so long since i went the japan route it got me mixed up. Now time to look at specs on the epon type S and the new 14 770 forged. :tsg_smiley_crazy:

Given that shafts/hosels are standard sizes for a specific model, you can actually convert between the two. For example, pull down the TaylorMade R7 face progression specs from TM Japan and the offset specs from TM North America. If I recall correctly, offset (mm) = 6mm - face progression (mm).

So yes, as the face progression goes up, the offset goes down.

Cheers,

matt
