Posted February 15, 200717 yr comment_129567 I recently purchased a set of Srixon 506's with Nippon 950 GH shafts installed. I was told stiff flex but how do I tell for sure? See the attached photo as it shows the shafts do not have an R, S, or X under the shaft logo like others I have seen. Do they have markings under the grip?
February 16, 200717 yr comment_129579 My Nippon Shafts have an X indication x-flex as should all Nippon Shafts. It could be a special make just for Srixon so no marking indicating the flex. Nippon does make several different flexing shafts depending upon the company their making it for. You may want to pry about this situation a little more from where you had them made.

That is very interesting indeed. I also find it intresting that on in the pro shop here on TSG as the following link will show, that the shaft in the photo does not have a flex indication either Hmmm.... http://www.tourspecgolf.com/catalog/product-info-582.html The Link shows the following photo, identical to my set:

Underneath the grip at the top of the shaft will have the uncut shaft length and flex. For example: 36.5 X Hope this helps.
February 17, 200717 yr Author comment_129629 Thanks for the info ADT69! I pulled a grip and it was there S-37.5 just as you described. Stiff flex 37.5" long.

Dont forget that to be a standard flex for a particular iron that 37.5" raw shaft needs to go into the 5 iron (see nippon websote trimming info). if that shaft was in a 6 iron then it is soft stepped and not actually to a standard stiff flex.
October 24, 200816 yr comment_152511 Just wondering if Nippon GH 950 S-flex play a bit softer than DG S300 ?? Thank you
