I have a SIX that I am pulling from a dis-used driver and installing in a 3 wood. The SIX is an older International model and not the new ZCOM Six but I believe they are the same. According to Fuji website, it would be ok for 3 wood but no tip trim due to its short pararell tip. For a 42.5 in finished length, I would have to trim a bit from the butt end. To all those shaft experts out there, would I have a problem with this 'procedure' and still retain the shaft profile and playing characteristic?

Of course, I am just too cheap to get a proper FW shaft.

I was hoping some more knowledgable clubmakers would answer you back but heres my take. I'm no clubmaker but I do know my clubs and what works. Over the years I've used quite a few 3 woods with driver shafts I recycled. I had a clubfitter I trusted do the work for me and they always turned out great. I say install according to Fuji's recommendations and then trim the length from the butt end. The shafts' characteristics should still stay the same, its just a shorter shaft that's all. You not affecting the bend profile or tip so it should still play the same. Yes its shorter, but its a 3wood.

In fact, I still use an old Speeder shaft in my 22° TRC utility club and it performs great. In fact its so good its one reason why its still in the bag. Very reliable. Give yours a go and let us know how it goes.

Thanks Blader for your input. The old Six is still one of the best from Fuji and I was hoping to recycle two that I have in drivers. While my club fitter never did a six on the FW, he read that a few tour pros use it on 3 woods.

Hey I definitely think its worth a shot. You know its fun to play all the new shafts, but a lot of those old Fuji's are still pretty damn good. Have you club fitter go to work on it and then let us all know how it performs.
