The new 2008 models are all new original designs by Sasaya-san. He told me that they are a big improvement grind wise and shape wise over the previous stage 4 and 5 wedges while using similar quality forging and steel. You can see there is a more detailed grind in the sole and the cnc milling done by Sasaya san on the face is more complex and supposedly spins even more!

The wide sole is more user friendly and won't dig as much... both have similar scorelines and spin equally well.
