Taylormade R7 XR

Hi fellow golf geeks out there, I recently bought a Taylormade R7 XR 10.5*, with the REAX XR stiff shaft. After playing with it for a couple of rounds, it seems that the trajectory quite high, about 18-19* launch angle, and backspin is really high, almost no roll whatsoever. It feels like when I bomb one out there, the flight is nice, but just stops on a dime when it lands. My swing speed is around 102-105, and this shaft weighs in at only 47 grams, but i've played with 60-75 grams shafts before. When i get aggressive, the ball will faaaaaaaddddddeeeee!! Cannot get the shaft to load properly, is it too soft? I bought it using a launch monitor, and it was fine. Just would like your opinions on a shaft that would fit this head quite well, bring the launch to about 15*, and one with more roll when it lands. (oh, can i tip the re-ax xr shaft to 45 inches from 45.5 to get better results, or will that screw up the way its supposed to be played?)

Thanx for any comments ,,,...,,,

Forty-seven gram shaft??!! Eeegadds! That sounds awful light. I had these same kind of problems when I experimented a few years back going to lighter shafts. I had used high 70 gram shafts and even at one time had the Speeder 952 (90+ grams). I then went with the trend at the time and went lighter. Much lighter. Had all the same problems you're having. Went back to heavier shafts and all was well, in fact better. I'm a believer that the weight of the shaft plays into the shafts characteristics just as much as flex and torque, if not more so.

I don't play TaylorMade and haven't hit any of their clubs for some time now, so I'm not quite sure what to suggest to you other than my favorites the GD Tour AD line. I'm sure some other guys here that regularly play TaylorMade could give us some info on whats working well for them.

I have hit my friends 10.5 R7 XR. My swing speed is similar to yours. I can only hit it if I dont kill it. I ahve to swing 50-75% to get the ball to fly straight.

My friend swings about 85-95 and it suits him perfect. I find that when you get JDM shafts, you have to go up one step in stiffness.

The shaft is definitley super light and I would have go an X flex. However, the head is pretty hot.
