ranghips
Good points... and I'd have to agree, especially since my irons are forged in Japan. They are Traditional Tour Edition Blades and they are sweet. In regards to the lack of accuracy on lofts in the U.S... I wonder if that's done because the American golfing population has no clue as to what they need? You know... the ego thing. Like you stated, the lofts always err on the side of more rather than less... and most amateur golfers need more loft. Your last statement is very true, and wouldn't it be nice if the OEM manufacturers were so altruistic that they preserved our dignity by stamping a lower loft degree on the heads of drivers just to make us feel better! My own, somewhat cynical, opinion is that OEM manufacturing tolerances are so poor that a discrepancy of 1.5* is commonplace, one of the inevitable consequences of building a product to a predetermined price point rather than the JDM philosophy of trying to build the most technically and aesthetically perfect product and then working out what it cost!
