mramage
Been alot of talk about Axiv and Roddio. Had the Roddio W-6BA in play for about 3 weeks now and thought it was time to share. This is my first review. Driver 1: Head: Epon 460ZR Loft: 9.5 Face angle: Neutral Shaft Axiv V 7072 Length: 45.75” In play: Early Feb – mid May Driver 2: Head: Epon 460ZR Loft: 9.5 Face angle: 1* closed Shaft: Roddio W-6BA Stiff Length: 46” In play: Mid May - Now Me: Height: 6’4” Driver SS: 105-110mph Tempo: Slightly smoother then average Bad shot: Right Previous Driver: Ping G5 with Aldila NV Stiff Feel: The Axiv V felt too stiff for my swing from the start. I was not feeling the awesome kick that I had heard so much about. I felt I had to attack the shot to feel any kick. The length was shorter then anything I had played and I really wasn’t feeling the thing load. Impact however felt great. The contact with the ball did feel better then anything I had hit in the past. The Roddio W-6BA kick is amazing. If you have a reasonably smooth swing then this is the shaft for you! The down swing is actually joyous because you can feel it load and kick straight through the ball and always feel where the club head is. Upon contact with the ball the feel is almost as good as the Aviv. It is a bit less crisp. Accuracy/Dispersion: I have a natural outside to inside swing creating a fading ball flight. My bad shot is definitely right. When my swing was on with the Axiv dispersion was very tight. Some rounds I was popping 10m fades out there and hitting 14/14. However, when my swing was more then a very slight cut I would send them hard right. The Axiv is designed to take out the left hand side and allow the golfer to attack the shot. This was not me. I really struggled to work the ball left with this shaft. I felt the shaft launched the ball very high but flattened out reasonably quickly The Roddio W-6BA has helped my bad shot a lot. I am more comfortable working the ball and can put quite a nice low draw on the ball with a smooth swing (something I couldn’t do with the Axiv). For my swing the Roddio came of the face slightly lower then the Axiv and flattened out just as quickly as the Axiv. I preferred this slightly lower trajectory. Distance: For my swing the Roddio W-6BA is 15-20 yards longer then the Axiv V spec. With the Axiv I was struggling to roll the ball past 240m (262yards). The Roddio I can roll out to the 260m (284yards) with a reasonably contained swing. Conclusion: If you have a smoother the average swing and lose it right on the odd occasion I don’t think you will find a better shaft then the Roddio BA series. I have given the best review I can of the two shafts with my swing, however I am sure that if you attacked the swing a bit more then I, it would be a different storey. For those with a faster tempo a comparision of the Roddio WA series vs Axiv would be really interesting. Please remember these are my personal experiences with these shafts with my swing. You have a different swing and your experiences will be different. Hope this has been useful! Kind Regards, rambo
gocchin
Great review R!! The Roddio seems to be working out a lot for people. It definitely has a great kick and is very smooth on the downswing. I have the same sentiments as you do. I can really feel it load and kick on the downswing into impact. I'm glad to see so many people are enjoying the Roddio! Phillip Alexander
It seems to me the Axiv -V is good for the hookers. If your a slicer then his will exagerate the problem. The information is useful either way. The Roddio seems more "traditional" in that you can move the ball either way. Perhaps a good comparison would be the original Axiv against the Roddio. At the end of the day it is all HIGH QUALITY. You just need to get the RIGHT high quality.

I would have to add Jack that with my limited experience of a couple of rounds with the Roddio WA model, I find it better for hookers than the AxivV. I could get the AxivV to hook and often but no so much with the Roddio. Still "learning" this shaft though, as I am so used to swinging the AxivV; the Roddio is a little different. Like the feeling of it though and just can't wait to really understand it. I think you're right to say a good comparison would be the original Axiv against the BA model. Also to add Jack you once asked me for reference what my swing speed was. Went to check that out the other day and swings were registering between 110-115 mph. Don't know however, how accurate the machine was but that's probably close enough.
